The Extron USBC-HD 8K is a USB-C to HDMI adapter cable that connects USB-C sources supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode to HDMI equipment. It actively converts the DisplayPort signal to HDMI format for use in commercial AV systems, supporting resolutions up to 8K/60 and HDMI 2.1 data rates up to 40.1 Gbps. EDID and HDCP pass through the adapter, so displays and protected sources negotiate normally. No external power is required, which keeps the table or lectern position free of another supply.

Product Description

USB-C laptops are now the default in most commercial meeting spaces, but the installed display base is overwhelmingly HDMI. The USBC-HD 8K bridges that gap without a dongle rattling around in a drawer. It is a purpose-built adapter cable rather than a generic accessory, specified for the resolution and protection requirements that show up in real AV systems.

Signal support covers HDMI 2.1 features including data rates up to 40.1 Gbps, dynamic HDR, Deep Color up to 12-bit, 3D, and HD lossless audio formats. Ultra-wide aspect ratios including 21:9 and 5K are supported, which matters for extended desktop layouts and Microsoft Teams room formats that fall outside standard 16:9 timings.

Because EDID and HDCP transmission pass through, the connected laptop sees the display's real capabilities and protected content plays as expected. That avoids the common failure mode where a cheap adapter reports a generic EDID and the source drops to a lower resolution, or refuses to output protected material at all.

Two versions are offered: a 6 inch (15 cm) USB-C male to HDMI female pigtail for adapting an existing HDMI cable at the source, and a 6 foot (1.8 m) USB-C male to HDMI male cable for a direct run.
