The Extron SMP 352 3G-SDI is an H.264 dual recording and streaming media processor designed for capturing and distributing presentations, lectures, and AV sources as MP4 recordings or live streams. It accepts two independent local video sources — HDMI, component, composite, and 3G-SDI — and can simultaneously record and stream from both channels. With support for RTP/RTSP virtual inputs, the SMP 352 can manage up to four simultaneous recordings and five concurrent streams without recurring licensing fees.

The SMP 352 processes two AV channels independently. Channel A selects from two HDMI inputs with analog or HDMI-embedded audio, and provides an HDMI loop-through for direct pass to a room display. Channel B accepts composite, component HD, HDMI, and 3G-SDI sources for professional camera and auxiliary inputs, enabling direct integration of broadcast-format cameras and SDI-output devices. Both channels support computer-video formats from 640×480 to 1920×1200 and video formats from 480p to 1080p/60, switchable live during a presentation.

The dual recording mode creates independent MP4 recordings from two sources simultaneously, each with its own archive stream settings. Users can record full-screen sources in dual mode or combine both channels into any two-window composite layout — side-by-side, picture-in-picture, or up to 16 custom presets with PNG backgrounds and metadata overlays. A confidence stream composites both sources so operators can monitor all channels from a single stream.

Recordings are saved in MP4 (M4V) format at 480p, 720p, or 1080p, and can be stored to the internal 400 GB SSD, a front or rear USB storage device, or a network share directory. Embedded metadata — title, creator, subject, description, date — simplifies indexing and search. Chapter marks can be set during recording, and JPEG thumbnails are captured automatically at configurable intervals.

Live streaming supports concurrent delivery at two resolutions and bit rates from 512×288 to 1080p/30. Video bit rates range from 200 kbps to 10 Mbps; audio from 16 kbps to 384 kbps. Push and pull modes are supported across RTP, RTSP, and other transport protocols. The SMP 352 runs Extron FlexOS for control system integration, with Ethernet, RS-232, and USB configuration. An embedded web interface includes a live video preview window.
