Product Description
The Extron NAV SD 101 is a 1G AV-over-IP scaling decoder that receives, decodes, and scales ultra-low-latency 4K HDMI video and audio over standard 1 Gbps copper Ethernet networks. Built on Extron's patented PURE3 codec, this commercial-grade decoder reproduces source content at resolutions up to 4K/60 with 4:4:4 chroma sampling while keeping bitrates low enough to run reliably on converged, switched infrastructure. As a fully interoperable member of the NAV Pro AV-over-IP platform, the NAV SD 101 decodes streams from both 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps NAV encoders, making it a cost-effective endpoint for corporate video distribution, command and control, education, and training deployments.

Integrated Extron Vector 4K scaling lets the NAV SD 101 match its HDMI output to any connected display, with selectable output rates from 640x480 up to 4096x2160 and FILL or FOLLOW aspect-ratio modes. The decoder supports NAV KVM workstation configurations of up to eight displays, WindoWall videowall processing in arrays up to 8x8, AES67 audio over IP, HDCP 2.3 with Key Minder, SRTP stream encryption, 802.1X access control, and a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module. PoE+ powering eliminates the need for a local power supply in many installations. The NAV SD 101 requires a NAVigator System Manager for centralized configuration, switching, and monitoring, and integrates with Extron Pro Series control systems for encrypted RS-232 and IR control at the endpoint. For deployments that also need USB 2.0 and Ethernet extension, consider the NAV SD 501, and browse the full Extron NAV collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- 4K/60 4:4:4 Scaling Decoder — The NAV SD 101 receives and scales 4K/60 video with 4:4:4 chroma sampling and audio over standard 1 Gbps IP networks for flexible system design across long distances.
- PURE3 Codec — Extron's patented wavelet-based PURE3 codec delivers visually lossless 4K video with ultra-low, sub-frame latency and tolerates the bursty traffic found on converged networks.
- Vector 4K Scaling — Integrated Extron Vector 4K scaling provides high-precision upscaling and downscaling with selectable FILL and FOLLOW aspect-ratio modes to ensure the optimal resolution for each display.
- HDMI Output with HDCP 2.3 — The HDMI 2.0 output supports data rates up to 18 Gbps, deep color, and two-channel LPCM audio while maintaining HDCP 2.3 compliance through Extron Key Minder.
- NAV KVM Workstation Support — The decoder supports KVM workstations of up to eight displays in 1xN or 2xM arrays with SmartGlide switching and up to 30 presets managed through the NAVigator.
- WindoWall Videowall Support — The decoder supports videowall applications in arrays up to 8x8 using Extron WindoWall processing with up to eight presets per videowall.
- AES67 Audio Interoperability — The decoder transmits and receives AES67 audio-over-IP streams for integration with Extron DMP Plus DSPs and third-party IP audio components.
- PoE+ Powering — The NAV SD 101 can be powered over a PoE-compliant network switch or injector, eliminating the need for a local power supply in many installations.
- 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps Interoperability — As part of the NAV platform, the decoder accepts streams from both 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps NAV encoders for mixed-bandwidth scalability.
- Enterprise Security — Support for 802.1X port-based access control, SRTP stream encryption, Active Directory, and a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module protects sensitive AV traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the NAV SD 101 and the NAV SD 501?
Both are 1 Gbps NAV scaling decoders with 4K/60 4:4:4 HDMI output and Vector 4K scaling. The NAV SD 101 focuses on video and audio decoding, while the NAV SD 501 adds built-in USB 2.0 extension and a dedicated Ethernet LAN expansion port for KVM and remote device connectivity.
Does the NAV SD 101 require a NAVigator System Manager?
Yes. The NAV SD 101 requires an Extron NAVigator System Manager for centralized configuration, stream routing, switching, and system monitoring across NAV encoders and decoders.
Is the NAV SD 101 compatible with 10 Gbps NAV encoders?
Yes. The NAV platform is fully interoperable between 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps endpoints. The PURE3 codec allows 10 Gbps NAV encoders to reduce bitrates so their streams can be decoded by the 1 Gbps NAV SD 101, supporting mixed-bandwidth deployments.
How is the NAV SD 101 powered and connected?
The decoder connects to the network over a copper RJ-45 link carrying video and audio. It can be powered by PoE+ from a compliant switch or injector, or by the included Extron Everlast external power supply, and mounts with the included ZipClip 400 hardware.
What warranty and support apply to the NAV SD 101?
The included Extron Everlast power supply carries a 7-year parts and labor warranty. For order-specific warranty terms, TAA-compliant or DoDIN APL versions, and integration support, contact Creation Networks, an authorized commercial AV reseller.
