Product Description
The Extron NAV E 101 is a 1G AV-over-IP encoder that streams ultra-low-latency, high-quality HDMI video and audio over standard 1 Gbps copper Ethernet networks. Built on Extron's patented PURE3 codec, this commercial-grade encoder transports source content at resolutions up to 4K/60 with 4:4:4 chroma sampling while keeping bitrates low enough to run reliably on converged, switched infrastructure. As a fully interoperable member of the NAV Pro AV-over-IP platform, the NAV E 101 streams to both 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps NAV decoders, making it a flexible source endpoint for corporate video distribution, command and control, education, and training deployments.

The NAV E 101 provides an HDMI input with a local HDMI loop-out, letting installers feed a local display, AV system, or hardware codec without a separate distribution amplifier. Adjustable bitrate, PURE3 Intelligent Selective Streaming, and audio breakaway give integrators precise control over network utilization and routing. PoE+ powering, AES67 audio-over-IP interoperability, HDCP 2.3 with Key Minder, SRTP stream encryption, 802.1X access control, and a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module make the encoder suitable for secure, scalable commercial AV-over-IP systems. The NAV E 101 requires a NAVigator System Manager for centralized configuration, switching, and monitoring, and integrates with Extron Pro Series control systems for encrypted RS-232 and IR control at the endpoint. Key Features
- 4K/60 4:4:4 AV-over-IP Encoder — The NAV E 101 encodes and streams 4K/60 video with 4:4:4 chroma sampling and audio over standard 1 Gbps IP networks for flexible system design across long distances.
- PURE3 Codec — Extron's patented wavelet-based PURE3 codec delivers visually lossless 4K video with ultra-low, sub-frame latency and tolerates the bursty traffic found on converged networks.
- HDMI Input with Loop-Out — The HDMI 2.0 input includes a local loop-out that feeds a local display, AV system, or hardware codec without requiring a separate distribution amplifier.
- HDCP 2.3 Compliance — The encoder supports HDCP 2.3 with Extron Key Minder for reliable handling of content-protected media and interoperability with other HDCP devices.
- Adjustable Bitrate — Selectable bitrates let integrators tune network utilization while maintaining image quality, supporting non-blocking designs for large installations.
- PURE3 Intelligent Selective Streaming — ISS leverages periods of low-motion content to reduce bandwidth on presentations and spreadsheets while maintaining visually lossless quality.
- AES67 Audio Interoperability — The encoder transmits and receives AES67 audio-over-IP streams and supports audio breakaway for independent audio and video switching.
- PoE+ Powering — The NAV E 101 can be powered over a PoE-compliant network switch or injector, eliminating the need for a local power supply in many installations.
- 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps Interoperability — As part of the NAV platform, the encoder streams to both 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps NAV decoders for mixed-bandwidth scalability.
- Enterprise Security — Support for 802.1X port-based access control, SRTP stream encryption, Active Directory, and a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module protects sensitive AV traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the NAV E 101 require a NAVigator System Manager?
Yes. The NAV E 101 requires an Extron NAVigator System Manager for centralized configuration, stream routing, switching, and system monitoring. The NAVigator is the appliance that turns NAV encoders and decoders into a managed AV-over-IP matrix.
What decoders work with the NAV E 101?
The NAV E 101 streams to any NAV decoder on the platform, including the 1 Gbps NAV SD 101 and NAV SD 501, as well as 10 Gbps NAV decoders. The PURE3 codec ensures full interoperability between 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps endpoints in mixed-bandwidth systems.
How is the NAV E 101 powered and connected?
The encoder takes an HDMI source, provides an HDMI loop-out, and connects to the network over a copper RJ-45 link. It can be powered by PoE+ from a compliant switch or injector, or by the included Extron Everlast external power supply.
Can the NAV E 101 send audio independently of video?
Yes. The encoder supports audio breakaway, allowing an audio signal to be switched independently of its corresponding video, and supports AES67 audio over IP for integration with Extron and third-party DSP processors.
What warranty and support apply to the NAV E 101?
The included Extron Everlast power supply carries a 7-year parts and labor warranty. For order-specific warranty terms, TAA-compliant or DoDIN APL versions, and integration support, contact Creation Networks, an authorized commercial AV reseller.
