Product Description

The Extron MediaPort 300 is a 4K HDMI to USB scaling bridge that connects Pro AV systems and sources to software codec conferencing applications. As a 4K HDMI and audio to USB scaling bridge, it accepts HDMI signals up to 4K/60, scales the video to a USB output, and presents itself to a host computer as a standard USB webcam and speakerphone using generic UVC and UAC drivers. This makes it the integration point between professional cameras, microphones, and sound systems and platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco WebEx, and Google Meet.

The MediaPort 300 bridges the gap between simple webcam-to-computer setups and traditional hardware-codec conferencing systems. In small meeting spaces, it adds support for professional-grade equipment such as PTZ conferencing cameras, boundary microphones, and sound reinforcement. In larger conference rooms, it integrates a conferencing computer into a fully equipped AV system with video distribution, control, microphones, and DSP. The connected computer can also record meetings, presentations, or lectures. With an HDCP-compliant HDMI input and loop-out, the MediaPort 300 works alongside hardware codecs and passes encrypted content from source to display.

The MediaPort 300 mounts in a compact 1-inch high, half-rack-width metal enclosure for discreet installation under a conference table, inside a credenza, or in a lectern. Browse the full Extron collection for related AV-over-IP encoders, decoders, scalers, and conferencing infrastructure.

Key Features

  • 4K HDMI input with HDCP-compliant loop-out — Accepts HDMI signals up to 4K/60 (4096 x 2160) with 4:4:4 chroma sampling and provides an HDCP-compliant loop-out for a local display, AV system, or hardware codec without a separate distribution amplifier.
  • Scaled USB video output — Extron video processing scales the HDMI source to USB output resolutions up to 4K/30, with MJPEG, YUY2, or NV12 encoding, optimizing image quality and legibility for far-end conferencing participants.
  • USB plug-and-play with generic drivers — Connects to Windows, macOS, and Linux computers as a standard UVC webcam and UAC speakerphone over a USB type C port at rates up to USB 5Gbps, with backward compatibility to USB 2.0.
  • Software codec compatibility — Works with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Adobe Connect, Cisco WebEx, FaceTime, Google Meet, GoToMeeting, and other unified communications platforms.
  • Integrated audio mixing and DSP — Mixes microphone, analog program, de-embedded HDMI, USB, and AES67 audio with level and mute control, functioning as a 2x2 USB audio interface with the host computer.
  • AES67 audio over IP — Provides two AES67 inputs and outputs for integration with Dante/AES67 microphones, NetPA Ultra amplifiers, DMP Plus DSPs, and other IP-enabled audio components.
  • Mic/line input with phantom power — A balanced or unbalanced mic/line input offers switchable 48 VDC phantom power for condenser microphones, with a second line-level input.
  • UC call and audio control — Bidirectional USB controls keep speaker and microphone level, mute, and call functions such as answer, end, and hold in sync between the host computer and an AV room control system.
  • Flexible USB enumeration — Presents to the host as webcam plus speakerphone (default), speakerphone only, webcam only, or disabled, with custom resolution groups to match codec and network conditions.
  • PoE+ and Ethernet management — Powered by PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) or the included external power supply, with Ethernet monitoring, control, and configuration through Extron PCS and built-in web pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the MediaPort 300 need special drivers?
No. It uses industry-standard UVC (USB Video Class) and UAC (USB Audio Class) drivers, so it is recognized as a webcam and speakerphone by Windows, macOS, and Linux without installing additional software.

Which conferencing platforms does it work with?
It works with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Adobe Connect, Cisco WebEx, FaceTime, Google Meet, GoToMeeting, and other software and cloud-based communications platforms, as well as hardware codecs through the HDMI loop-out.

What video resolutions does it support?
The HDMI input accepts signals up to 4K/60 (4096 x 2160). The scaled USB output supports resolutions up to 4K/30 to match common software codec requirements, negotiated by the host PC based on USB version and conferencing software.

How is it powered and mounted?
It is powered by PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) over a single Ethernet cable or by the included external Extron Everlast power supply. The 1-inch high, half-rack-width enclosure mounts under a table, in a rack with an optional shelf, or in furniture with optional Extron mounting kits.

Can it handle microphones and external audio?
Yes. It accepts a mic/line input with switchable 48 V phantom power for condenser microphones, a second line input, de-embedded HDMI audio, USB audio, and AES67 audio over IP, all mixed through the integrated DSP with level and mute control.

What warranty and support are included?
The MediaPort 300 carries a 3-year parts and labor warranty and the included Extron Everlast power supply a 7-year parts and labor warranty. For product support, contact Creation Networks through creationnetworks.net.
