Product Overview
The Extron DTP CrossPoint 86 4K is an 8x6 4K presentation matrix switcher with integrated DTP signal extension, Vector 4K scaling, and ProDSP audio processing with AEC — without an integrated amplifier or control processor, making it the base configuration for installations where separate amplification and control hardware are already specified. Six HDMI and two DTP twisted pair inputs route to two non-scaled HDMI outputs and four independently scaled DTP outputs, with the Vector 4K engine providing per-output resolution control from 640x480 through 4K. DTP outputs extend signals up to 330 feet over shielded CATx to DTP 230/330 endpoints and HDBaseT-enabled displays, with bidirectional RS-232 and IR insertion on the same cable. Available at Creation Networks.
Product Description
The DTP CrossPoint 86 4K is specified in commercial AV installations where an 8x6 4K matrix switcher with scaled DTP extension and full-featured audio DSP is required, but amplification and AV system control are handled by separate dedicated hardware. The 8x6 matrix routes any of the six HDMI or two DTP inputs to any of the two non-scaled HDMI or four scaled DTP outputs independently. The four scaled DTP outputs use the Extron Vector 4K engine — 30-bit precision processing at 4:4:4 chroma sampling — for independent per-output resolution control, with selectable seamless switching transitions including freeze/cut, freeze/fade, cut through black, and fade through black. DTP outputs support up to 330 feet of signal extension over shielded CATx to DTP 230/330 transmitters and receivers, XTP CrossPoint matrix switchers, and HDBaseT-enabled displays, with bidirectional RS-232 and IR carried on the same cable. The ProDSP engine provides 32/64-bit floating point DSP with four-channel AEC, eight-group automixer, four mic/line inputs with 48V phantom power, audio breakaway, S/PDIF output, and 32 configurable presets. EDID Minder, Key Minder, and SpeedSwitch ensure reliable HDCP handling and fast source switching. The unit is controlled via front panel, Ethernet, USB, or RS-232 using Extron PCS software. Available at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- 8x6 4K Matrix Switcher — Routes six HDMI and two DTP twisted pair inputs to two non-scaled HDMI and four independently scaled DTP outputs in a 3U full-rack-width enclosure for multi-display presentation environments.
- Vector 4K Scaling Engine — Independent per-output 4K scaling on all four DTP outputs using 30-bit precision processing and 4:4:4 chroma sampling; supports resolutions from 640x480 through 4K (3840x2160 and 4096x2160).
- Four Scaled DTP Outputs — Two additional scaled outputs versus the 84 4K model; supports up to four remote displays via DTP 230/330 endpoints or HDBaseT-enabled displays from a single rack unit.
- DTP Signal Extension to 330 Feet — Two DTP inputs and four DTP outputs extend HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA signals up to 330 feet (100 m) over shielded CATx with embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, IR, and remote power on the same cable.
- HDBaseT-Compatible DTP Outputs — All four DTP outputs can be configured for HDBaseT mode to drive compatible displays directly without a dedicated receiver.
- ProDSP 32/64-Bit Floating Point Audio Processor — Full DSP with 24-bit/48 kHz conversion, EQ, dynamics, delay, feedback suppression, ducking, group masters, and matrix mixing.
- Four-Channel Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) — Independent AEC per channel for clear conferencing audio in double-talk conditions and with wireless microphones in use at the near end.
- Eight-Group Automixer — Gated and gain-sharing modes with per-channel adjustable threshold and timing for natural microphone management in multi-mic rooms.
- Four Mic/Line Inputs with 48V Phantom Power — Accepts condenser microphones; matrix mixable into any output bus with -18 dB to +80 dB input gain adjustment in 0.1 dB steps.
- No Integrated Amplifier — Four variable stereo analog outputs provide line-level audio for connection to external amplifiers; suited for installations with existing amplification infrastructure.
- EDID Minder, Key Minder, and SpeedSwitch — EDID Minder ensures reliable source power-up; Key Minder maintains continuous HDCP encryption; SpeedSwitch delivers fast switching for HDCP-protected content.
- Digital Audio Expansion Port (EXP) — RJ-45 port for 16x16 I/O channel transport to an Extron DMP 128 Plus processor over shielded CAT 6 (up to 10 m) for scalable audio in larger installations.
- QS-FPC Front Panel Controller — Tri-color backlit discrete input/output buttons; front panel security lockout prevents unauthorized switching.
- Extron Everlast Internal Power Supply — Universal power compatibility with 7-year parts and labor warranty.

Typical Application
The DTP CrossPoint 86 4K is specified in conference rooms, lecture halls, and command centers where 8x6 4K matrix switching, DTP signal extension, and DSP with AEC are required but amplification and system control are handled by separate dedicated components. Integrators choose this base model when combining it with an existing external amplifier and control system, or when the installation calls for a specific amplifier configuration not covered by the SA or MA models.
