Product Overview
The DBX 215s is a dual 15-band graphic equalizer from the 2 Series, providing 2/3-octave frequency control on two independent channels for live sound, touring, and smaller installed audio systems that require broadband room correction in a compact 2U rack-mount format. As a portable dual-channel 15-band graphic EQ with Constant Q filtering and 112 dB dynamic range, the DBX 215s delivers reliable signal processing for sound reinforcement applications where a full 31-band unit provides more resolution than the application requires. Available at Creation Networks.
Product Description
The DBX 215s provides two independent channels of 15-band 2/3-octave graphic equalization in a 2U chassis. Each channel covers 15 ISO-centered frequency bands from 31.5 Hz to 16 kHz with 30mm faders, and the Constant Q filter design ensures consistent bandwidth regardless of the amount of boost or cut applied. The universal power supply accepts 100-240V at 50/60 Hz for international use without voltage switching, making the 215s appropriate for touring and rental stock. Electronically balanced XLR and TRS connectors on all inputs and outputs connect to mixing consoles, amplifiers, and system processors without adapter requirements. A 40 Hz high-pass filter at 18 dB/octave removes sub-bass content, and the front-panel EQ bypass switch provides direct A/B comparison during system setup. Dynamic range exceeds 112 dB, A-weighted, with THD+Noise less than 0.005% and frequency response flat within +0.5/-1 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The 215s is a direct 2 Series counterpart to the 12 Series DBX 1215, sharing the same filter topology in a more compact format without transformer balanced I/O or barrier strip connectors.

Key Features
- Dual 15-Band 2/3-Octave Constant Q EQ - Two independent channels with ISO-centered frequency bands and consistent Constant Q filter behavior across all settings.
- 112 dB Dynamic Range - A-weighted dynamic range appropriate for professional live sound and installed audio applications.
- XLR and TRS I/O - Electronically balanced XLR and TRS connectors on all inputs and outputs.
- Universal Power Supply - Accepts 100-240V at 50/60 Hz for international touring and rental applications.
- 40Hz High-Pass Filter - 18 dB/octave slope removes sub-bass content that can reduce amplifier headroom.
- Front-Panel EQ Bypass - One-touch bypass for A/B comparison during system setup and tuning.
- 2U Rack Format - Standard 19-inch rack mounting in a 2U chassis for touring racks and permanent installations.
- Constant Q Filter Design - Maintains consistent bandwidth regardless of boost/cut depth for predictable results.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the DBX 215s and the DBX 231s?
- The 215s provides 15 bands of 2/3-octave equalization per channel, applying broader frequency adjustments suitable for general room voicing and correcting large room mode anomalies. The 231s provides 31 bands of 1/3-octave equalization per channel for finer frequency resolution and more precise room correction. Both units are from the 2 Series with the same Constant Q filter design and universal power supply.
- What is the difference between the DBX 215s and the DBX 1215?
- Both provide dual 15-band 2/3-octave graphic equalization, but the 1215 is from the 12 Series with transformer balanced I/O, 45mm faders, barrier strip connectors, and specifications optimized for permanent installation. The 215s is from the 2 Series with electronically balanced I/O, 30mm faders, and no barrier strip connectors, making it more suited for touring and rental applications.
- Does the DBX 215s work with international power supplies?
- Yes. The universal power supply in the 215s accepts 100-240V at 50/60 Hz without a voltage switching procedure, making it compatible with power standards across North America, Europe, and most other touring regions.
- Is 15-band equalization sufficient for live sound main system tuning?
- For many live sound applications, 15-band 2/3-octave equalization provides adequate resolution for main system voicing and room correction. The broader 2/3-octave bands reduce the risk of narrow notching that can affect program audio when 31-band EQ is applied aggressively. For detailed speaker cabinet voicing or fine notch filtering of room modes, a 31-band EQ provides more flexibility.
- Can the DBX 215s be used for monitor mixes?
- Yes. The dual independent channels make the 215s suitable for inserting in two monitor mixes or in-ear feeds simultaneously, with each channel independently adjusted for the specific frequency correction required at each mix position.
- What rack space does the DBX 215s require?
- The 215s occupies 2U (3.5 inches) of space in a standard 19-inch equipment rack.
