Product Overview
The Crestron GLS-ODT-C-CN is a ceiling-mount dual-technology occupancy and daylight sensor that combines passive infrared (PIR) and ultrasonic detection with a built-in photosensor. It connects to a Crestron control system via Cresnet for centralized occupancy-based lighting automation and daylight harvesting in commercial spaces.
Product Description
The GLS-ODT-C-CN combines PIR motion detection for gross occupancy with 40 kHz ultrasonic sensing for fine-motion detection, reducing false vacancies in offices, conference rooms, and open-plan spaces. The built-in photosensor measures ambient light from 0 to 1,000 lux and feeds that data to the Crestron system for daylight harvesting and load-shedding applications. Coverage is 360° over 2,000 sq ft from a ceiling mount. The sensor draws 1.5 W (60 mA at 24 VDC) from the Cresnet bus and connects via a 5-pin terminal block with an additional EXT pin for an external photosensor input. Sensitivity, timeout, PIR/ultrasonic zones, and LED indicators are all configurable via an IR remote (sold separately). For ordering and project support, visit creationnetworks.net.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Why use dual-technology sensing instead of PIR only?
- PIR detects large movements effectively but can miss seated occupants making minor motions. Adding ultrasonic sensing provides sensitivity to small movements like typing or minor body shifts, reducing false vacancy events that would unnecessarily turn off lights.
- Can the sensor be configured without a Crestron control system?
- Basic sensitivity and timeout settings are configurable via IR remote (sold separately) without a connected control system. Full integration for lighting control and daylight harvesting requires a Crestron processor on the Cresnet network.
- Does the GLS-ODT-C-CN require a separate power supply?
- No. The sensor is powered entirely from the Cresnet bus at 1.5 W (60 mA @ 24 VDC). No separate power wiring is needed at the ceiling mount location beyond the Cresnet cable.
