Product Overview
The Crestron DM-NVX-385C is a DM NVX AV-over-IP encoder/decoder card for the DMF-CI-8 card chassis, combining a built-in 4x1 input switcher with 5K AV-over-IP streaming over standard Gigabit Ethernet. It accepts two HDMI inputs and two USB-C inputs (DisplayPort Alt Mode), enabling laptop and PC connections without adapters in conference rooms, training rooms, and huddle spaces. The card operates as either a transmitter or receiver, making it a flexible component in high-density rack-based DM NVX AV distribution systems.
Product Description
The DM-NVX-385C supports video resolutions up to 5120×2880 at 30 Hz (5K Wide) and 5120×1440 at 60 Hz (5K Super-Wide), with 4:4:4 color sampling and HDR support including HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Deep Color. In encoder mode, it presents a 4x1 switcher accepting two HDMI inputs and two USB-C inputs, with manual, automatic, or control-system-driven switching. In decoder mode, it acts as a 5x1 switcher accepting the network stream plus an HDMI input, with a full 4K60 4:4:4 output scaler.
Audio support covers multichannel digital formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio, and LPCM up to 8 channels. Native AES67 transmit and receive capability enables audio-over-IP integration with AES67-compliant systems. The card includes an analog stereo audio input/output (3.5 mm terminal block) for local monitoring or amplification. Downmixing of surround sound to stereo is supported for simpler audio outputs.
The DM-NVX-385C provides two copper Gigabit Ethernet ports and one SFP fiber port for network connectivity. USB 2.0 KVM extension is included via USB Type-A ports (TO DEVICE and HID TO DEVICE) and USB-C host ports (TO HOST), enabling keyboard, mouse, and peripheral sharing over IP in conference room and training room installations. Video wall processing supports configurations up to 8 wide by 8 high. eARC is supported on both HDMI IN 2 and HDMI OUT for audio return channel applications.
The card occupies one slot in the DMF-CI-8 card chassis (sold separately) and includes a metal faceplate. Copy protection is HDCP 2.3. Security features include AES-128 content encryption with PKI authentication, SSL/TLS, SSH, and Active Directory authentication.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What chassis is required for the DM-NVX-385C?
- The DM-NVX-385C requires the DMF-CI-8 card chassis (sold separately). It occupies one card slot in that chassis.
- Can this card be used as either a transmitter or a receiver?
- Yes. The DM-NVX-385C is configurable as a DM NVX encoder (transmitter) or decoder (receiver) via the web interface or Crestron control system, providing flexibility in system design and inventory management.
- Do the USB-C inputs support video from all USB-C laptops?
- The USB-C inputs require DisplayPort Alt Mode for video transmission. Not all USB-C cables and devices support DisplayPort Alt Mode; check that the source laptop and cable both support it.
- What is the maximum video resolution supported?
