Product Overview

The Crestron DM-NAX-XSP is an 8K Smart Display Controller and Network Audio Encoder/Decoder that combines HDMI video distribution, eARC audio extraction, and DM NAX audio-over-IP in a single PoE+-powered device. It is designed for commercial AV installers deploying distributed audio and display control in conference rooms, classrooms, and enterprise collaboration spaces. The device bridges traditional HDMI sources with IP-based audio distribution, eliminating the need for multiple standalone components.

Product Description

The DM-NAX-XSP connects to a display via HDMI and passes 8K30 or 4K120 video with HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HDCP 2.3 support. Its eARC port extracts audio from the display for routing into a DM NAX audio-over-IP distribution network. The device supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, TrueHD, and DTS HD Master Audio. Two independent Gigabit Ethernet ports separate AV-over-IP and control traffic. RS-232, IR, relay, and digital input ports provide local device control capabilities. The unit is PoE+-powered via its LAN 1 port, requiring no separate power supply.

Key Features

  • 8K30 4:4:4 12-bit and 4K120 4:4:4 12-bit HDMI video pass-through

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between eARC and ARC, and does the DM-NAX-XSP support both?
A: eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) supports lossless audio formats including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X at full quality. Standard ARC is limited to compressed formats. The DM-NAX-XSP supports eARC, which is backward compatible with ARC-equipped displays.

Q: Can the DM-NAX-XSP distribute audio to multiple rooms via DM NAX?
A: Yes. The DM-NAX-XSP acts as a DM NAX network audio encoder, allowing audio from its HDMI input or eARC port to be distributed over IP to DM NAX decoders and amplifiers throughout a building.

Q: Does the DM-NAX-XSP require a separate power supply?
A: No. The DM-NAX-XSP is powered entirely via PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at Type 2) over its LAN 1 Ethernet port. A PoE+ switch or injector is required.
