Product Overview
The Crestron DM-CBL-ULTRA-P-SP1000 is a 1,000-foot spool of CAT7a shielded twisted pair (S/FTP) bulk cable, rated Type CMP for installation in environmental air-handling (plenum) spaces. With a blue outer jacket, this is Crestron’s standard color for DigitalMedia Ultra Cable, designed to deliver lossless 4K and Ultra HD AV signals at distances up to 330 ft (100 m) over DigitalMedia 8G+ and HDBaseT systems. Every spool is individually factory-tested and certified to exceed HDMI specifications at less than one pixel error per billion.
Product Description
DigitalMedia Ultra Cable is the Crestron-guaranteed wiring solution for DM 8G+ AV distribution and is highly recommended for any HDBaseT-based AV system or CAT-based video distribution application. The DM-CBL-ULTRA-P-SP1000 is the standard blue, plenum-rated 1,000-foot spool, suitable for permanent in-wall and in-ceiling installation in commercial buildings where NEC Article 800 compliance for environmental air-handling spaces is required.
The S/FTP construction provides four individually foil-shielded twisted pairs plus an overall tinned copper braid shield exceeding 50% coverage. This dual-layer shielding provides strong rejection of electromagnetic interference, making the cable appropriate for high-density commercial AV machine rooms, above-ceiling runs in occupied spaces, and any environment with significant EMI from lighting, HVAC motors, or other cable bundles. The 22 AWG solid bare copper conductors with foam FEP insulation deliver consistent impedance (100 ohms nominal) and low delay skew (≤25 ns/100 m).
Outer jacket length markings allow accurate cut measurement directly from the spool without a tape measure, reducing installation errors on large jobs. The cable terminates using Crestron DM-CONN shielded RJ45 connectors (sold separately) with a tool-free connection method, enabling fast and reliable field termination by AV installers. DM Ultra Cable is also qualified for 10-Gigabit Ethernet structured cabling, making it a versatile infrastructure investment for buildings that may later transition to AV-over-IP architectures.
Key Features
- Blue Plenum Jacket (Type CMP) — Crestron standard color for DigitalMedia infrastructure; rated for air-handling spaces per NEC Article 800.
- CAT7a S/FTP Construction — Four individually foil-shielded pairs plus overall braid shield for superior EMI rejection in commercial AV environments.
- 4K and Ultra HD Performance — Exceeds HDMI specifications at under one pixel error per billion at up to 330 ft (100 m).
- 22 AWG Solid Bare Copper Conductors — Consistent signal integrity and DC resistance across the full 1,000-foot spool length.
- 1,000-Foot Spool — Full-spool quantity for efficient, low-waste installation across large commercial spaces.
- Per-Spool Testing and Certification — Every spool individually tested; certification provided for verified performance.
- Jacket Length Markings — Printed on the outer jacket for accurate length measurement during installation.
- 10-Gigabit Ethernet Qualified — Compatible with structured data cabling requiring CAT5e, CAT6, or CAT7 performance.
- No-Crimp Termination — Terminates with Crestron DM-CONN connectors (sold separately); no crimping tool required.
Typical Applications
- Commercial AV distribution in plenum air-handling spaces requiring CMP-rated cabling
- DigitalMedia 8G+ AV infrastructure in boardrooms, conference rooms, and multi-room commercial spaces
- HDBaseT AV distribution in auditoriums, training rooms, and all-hands rooms

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between DM-CBL-ULTRA-P-SP1000 and DM-CBL-ULTRA-P-B-SP1000?
- Both cables have identical electrical specifications and construction. The standard DM-CBL-ULTRA-P-SP1000 has a blue outer jacket. The B variant (DM-CBL-ULTRA-P-B-SP1000) has a black jacket. Choose based on installation color-coding conventions or project requirements.
- At what maximum distance does this cable support 4K video?
- DM Ultra Cable supports lossless 4K and Ultra HD AV signal distribution at distances up to 330 ft (100 m) over DigitalMedia 8G+ and HDBaseT systems.
- Is this cable suitable for HDBaseT systems from other manufacturers?
- Yes. DM Ultra Cable is highly recommended for any HDBaseT-based AV system and meets the cabling requirements of HDBaseT, DM 8G+, and 10-Gigabit Ethernet.
- What connector is used to terminate this cable?
- Crestron DM-CONN shielded RJ45-type connectors are recommended, sold separately. These do not require a crimping tool for field termination.
- Can this cable be installed without conduit in plenum spaces?
- Yes. The Type CMP rating permits direct installation in environmental air-handling (plenum) spaces without conduit under NEC Article 800.
- Is there a 500-foot spool option?
- Yes. The DM-CBL-ULTRA-P-SP500 is the same cable on a 500-foot spool. The SP1000 variant is recommended for larger installations to minimize splice points.
