Product Overview

The Crestron CHV-TSTAT-FCU-PIR-10-W-T is a 0-10V heating and cooling thermostat for fan coil unit (FCU) HVAC systems, with a built-in passive infrared (PIR) occupancy sensor and Cresnet network connectivity. Designed for hotels, apartments, and multifamily residences, it automatically switches between occupied and unoccupied temperature setpoints based on room presence to reduce unnecessary energy use. The thermostat operates standalone or as part of a larger Crestron automation network.

Product Description

The CHV-TSTAT-FCU-PIR-10-W-T delivers 0-10V variable control of fan coil unit heating, cooling valves, and fan speed across four adjustable discrete voltage levels (Off, Low, Medium, High). An additional relay output is included for traditional heating elements alongside 0-10V modulating valve control. The built-in PIR sensor monitors room vacancy; when the sensor detects no motion, the thermostat switches to a predefined unoccupied setpoint to conserve energy. A transflective backlit LCD displays current temperature, setpoint, mode, and fan settings, with large push buttons for direct user adjustment. Cresnet wired communication allows the thermostat to participate in a networked Crestron system, enabling central scheduling and global temperature adjustments from any point in the installation.

Key Features

  • 0-10V variable control of fan coil unit heating, cooling, and fan speed
  • Built-in PIR occupancy sensor for automatic occupied/unoccupied setpoint switching
  • Additional heating relay for traditional heating element control
  • Cresnet wired communications for integration with Crestron control systems
  • Backlit transflective LCD display, 2.75 in (70 mm), 128 x 64 resolution
  • Large push buttons for mode, fan speed, setpoint, and temperature scale selection
  • Separate heating and cooling setpoints with optional auto changeover
  • Adjustable anticipators to prevent temperature overshoot
  • Operates standalone without Cresnet connection
  • Wall-mount installation on standard 1-gang horizontal electrical box

Typical Applications

  • Guest rooms in hotels and hospitality properties with occupancy-based energy management
  • Multifamily residential units requiring PIR-enabled setback control
  • Commercial offices or classrooms with scheduled occupancy patterns
  • Healthcare facilities and dormitories with variable-speed fan coil unit HVAC systems
  • Retrofit installations requiring a Cresnet-compatible 0-10V FCU thermostat with occupancy sensing

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the built-in PIR sensor affect thermostat operation?
A: When the PIR sensor detects no motion in the room for a configured period, the thermostat automatically switches to a predefined unoccupied temperature setpoint. When motion is detected again, it returns to the occupied setpoint. This reduces HVAC energy consumption in unoccupied spaces without manual intervention.

Q: Can the 0-10V output control variable-speed fan coil unit fans directly?
A: Yes. The 0-10V fan output controls compatible FCU fan motors at four adjustable discrete voltage levels corresponding to Off, Low, Medium, and High fan speeds. Maximum current output is 20 mA per channel.

Q: Does this thermostat require a Crestron control system to operate?
A: No. The CHV-TSTAT-FCU-PIR-10-W-T is a fully functional standalone thermostat. Cresnet connectivity is optional and is used for integration with Crestron automation systems for scheduling and centralized control.
