Product Overview
The Crestron CEN-SWSFP-40-TAA is a TAA-compliant, 40-port managed fiber switch built for high-bandwidth AV-over-IP backbones and enterprise AV distribution networks. It combines 32 ports of 10 Gigabit SFP+ and eight ports of 25 Gigabit SFP28 in a 1U rackmount chassis with a 1.04 Tbps non-blocking switching fabric. With a modular power supply slot for redundancy and built-in DM NVX and DM NAX profile support, this switch addresses both AV integrator requirements and IT network standards in government and commercial environments.
Product Description
The CEN-SWSFP-40-TAA is an all-SFP managed switch delivering 32 ports of 10 Gigabit Base-X SFP+ connectivity and eight ports of 25 Gigabit Base-X SFP28 connectivity. Every port supports both multimode and single-mode fiber transceiver modules, making this switch well-suited to large facilities where runs exceed copper distance limits or where electrical isolation between buildings is required. The 1.04 Tbps non-blocking switching fabric ensures line-rate throughput across all ports simultaneously, a critical requirement in high-density DM NVX AV-over-IP environments.
TAA compliance makes the CEN-SWSFP-40-TAA eligible for federal, state, and government-funded procurement. The switch features a modular power supply slot compatible with the CEN-SWSFP-PWS600 for power redundancy, helping protect mission-critical AV installations against single-supply failures. A dedicated web browser interface provides simplified DM NVX and DM NAX AV profile configuration alongside full IT management via CLI, SSH, SNMP, RADIUS, and TACACS+.
Layer 2 and Layer 3 managed switching is fully supported, including VLANs, IGMP snooping with IGMPv3 and MLDv2, IEEE 1588 PTPv2 for precision timing, QoS policies, static and dynamic routing (RIP, PIM-SM, PIM-DM), DHCP server, 802.1X authentication, and Green Ethernet (EEE 802.3az). Up to 16K MAC addresses are supported, with switch stacking capability indicated via front-panel Stack Master and Stack ID LEDs.
Key Features
- TAA Compliant — Meets Trade Agreements Act requirements for government and federally funded procurement.
- 32x 10GbE SFP+ + 8x 25GbE SFP28 — All-fiber port configuration for long-distance and electrically-isolated backbone deployments.
- 1.04 Tbps Non-Blocking Switching Fabric — Delivers wire-speed throughput on all 40 ports simultaneously, with no oversubscription.
- Modular Power Supply Slot — Compatible with CEN-SWSFP-PWS600 for power redundancy in mission-critical AV installations.
- DM NVX & DM NAX AV Profiles — Automates multicast configuration for Crestron AV-over-IP and Audio-over-IP systems.
- Layer 2 & Layer 3 Managed — Full routing, VLANs, IGMP snooping, PTP, QoS, and DHCP server included.
- Switch Stacking Support — Stack Master LED and Stack ID display support multi-switch stacking for scalable AV network deployments.
- Enterprise Security — 802.1X, DHCP snooping, dynamic ARP inspection, IP source guard, RADIUS, and TACACS+.
- Quiet Operation — Fan noise as low as 33 dBA in Quiet Mode (up to 63 dBA in Cool Mode) at 77°F.
Typical Applications

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the CEN-SWSFP-40-TAA include PoE?
- No. This is an all-SFP switch without Power over Ethernet. It is intended as a high-speed fiber backbone switch, not a device-powering edge switch. For PoE requirements, see the CEN-SWPOE series.
- What transceivers are compatible with the SFP+ and SFP28 ports?
- All SFP+ ports support 10 Gigabit Base-X modules and all SFP28 ports support 25 Gigabit Base-X modules, in both multimode and single-mode fiber. Transceiver modules are sold separately.
- Is the power supply included?
- The switch includes a built-in primary power supply. The modular PSU slot accepts the optional CEN-SWSFP-PWS600 for redundancy; this accessory is sold separately.
- How does the switch integrate with Crestron DM NVX systems?
- Selecting the DM NVX AV-over-IP profile via the web interface automatically sets up the multicast routing and IGMP configuration required for DM NVX endpoint communication.
- Can this switch be used in a mixed fiber and copper AV network?
- Yes. The SFP ports accept appropriate transceiver modules. For copper edge connections, pair this switch with a CEN-SWPOE series switch connected via SFP uplinks.
- What warranty applies?
- Covered under Crestron's standard limited warranty. Full details are available at crestron.com/warranty.
