Product Overview
The Crestron AUD-EXT-100 extends a single unbalanced stereo analog audio signal up to 2,000 feet using standard CAT5 or better UTP cable. It consists of one transmitter and one receiver, both completely passive with no power required, making it a cost-effective and reliable solution for distributing audio signals across large facilities.
Product Description
AV designers and integrators use the AUD-EXT-100 to transport unbalanced stereo line-level audio over existing or new CAT5 infrastructure without the cost or complexity of active signal processors. Because both units are passive, there are no power supplies to source or fail in the field. The extender delivers professional-quality audio performance with bandwidth from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, THD+N below 0.1%, and a signal-to-noise ratio above 100 dB.
Each unit features an RJ-45 port for the CAT5 extension run and a pair of RCA connectors for the unbalanced stereo line-level audio connection. The aluminum chassis includes integral mounting flanges so units can be mounted to a flat surface, to a single rack rail, or positioned freestanding. Three AUD-EXT units fit side by side on a standard 1U 19-inch rack shelf.
The AUD-EXT-100 is ideal as an audio return channel in Crestron Sonnex multiroom audio systems. Shop the full AUD-EXT Series at Creation Networks: creationnetworks.net.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the AUD-EXT-100 work with digital S/PDIF audio signals?
- No. The AUD-EXT-100 extends only one unbalanced analog stereo signal. For S/PDIF digital audio extension, use the AUD-EXT-201 model instead.
- Is any configuration or setup required after connecting the transmitter and receiver?
- No. Both units are completely passive and require no configuration. Connect the audio source to the transmitter RCA inputs, run a CAT5 (or better) cable to the receiver, and connect the receiver RCA outputs to the destination device.
- Can the AUD-EXT-100 be used with Crestron DM or other CAT-based signal extension technologies?
- No. AUD-EXT CAT5 extension technology is not compatible with Crestron Sonnex Link, Crestron Home, DigitalMedia (DM), or other CAT-based signal extension systems.
