Product Overview

The ZeeVee Z4KDECC3U ZyPer4K HDMI 2.0 CatX Decoder with USB is the KVM-capable endpoint of the ZyPer4K SDVoE system, enabling remote operators to receive uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video and connect USB peripherals to centralized source computers over a standard 10GbE copper network. At zero-frame latency, it provides the display-side complement to the Z4KENCC3U encoder, forming a complete KVM-over-IP link where operators can interact with remote workstations as if seated locally at the source machine. This ZeeVee ZyPer4K uncompressed 4K AV-over-IP decoder is deployed in command centers, secure operations facilities, and enterprise AV environments where operator positions need to be separated from centralized compute hardware. Connectivity is via Cat6a copper up to 100 meters per segment on a standard 10GbE switched network.

Product Description

The Z4KDECC3U adds a USB 2.0 Type A port to the standard copper decoder, providing the peripheral connection point for keyboard, mouse, and USB HID devices at the operator's location. When paired with a Z4KENCC3U or Z4KENCF3U encoder, the USB signals are transported across the IP network and presented to the source computer as if locally connected, completing a full KVM-over-IP link with uncompressed 4K video. The decoder receives HDMI 2.0 video from the SDVoE network and outputs it at up to 4K60 4:4:4 with color depths up to 48-bit, with full HDCP 2.2 compliance for encrypted content. Audio output includes LPCM up to 8 channels over HDMI and an unbalanced 3.5mm stereo analog output for local speaker systems. RS-232 and IR ports receive control signals from the network for local device control, eliminating separate control wiring runs. The 1Gb utility RJ45 provides secondary connectivity for display controllers or local network devices. ZMP manages all routing, source-to-display assignments, video wall configurations up to 15x15, and multiview layouts with up to 19 sources. Security is enforced via HDCP 2.2, AES-128, and 802.1X network authentication. Power draw is approximately 9W via the locking Neutrik NAC3MPX connector.

Key Features

  • USB 2.0 KVM Endpoint — Type A USB port connects keyboards, mice, and USB HID devices for full KVM-over-IP at the operator position.
  • Uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 Output — Decodes and outputs full-fidelity HDMI 2.0 video without compression or buffering delay.
  • Zero-Frame Latency — Real-time video and peripheral response for control room and interactive workstation applications.
  • 10GbE Copper Connectivity — RJ45 or SFP+ over Cat6a up to 100 meters on standard enterprise 10GbE switching infrastructure.
  • 8-Channel LPCM Audio Output — Multi-channel audio delivered via HDMI to displays or AV receivers at the endpoint.
  • RS-232 and IR Control Reception — Receives control signals from the encoder end for local display and device management.
  • Video Wall and Multiview — Supports 15x15 video walls and 19-source multiview via ZMP.
  • HDCP 2.2 and AES-128 Security — Full content protection and encrypted transport for enterprise and secure environments.

Typical Applications

  • KVM-over-IP operator workstations in command and operations centers
  • Remote access to centralized computing in secure or data center environments
  • Broadcast production positions requiring both video monitoring and workstation access
  • Enterprise AV systems where operators need interactive access to network-connected sources
  • Government and defense facilities with centralized, access-controlled compute infrastructure
  • University media labs providing shared remote workstation access to students

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Z4KDECC3U work with any ZyPer4K encoder, or only USB-equipped encoders?
Video and audio routing work with any ZyPer4K encoder. USB KVM pass-through is only active when paired with an encoder that also has a USB port (Z4KENCC3U or Z4KENCF3U). Non-USB encoder pairings continue to function normally for video and audio.
What USB devices can be connected to the Z4KDECC3U?
The USB 2.0 Type A port supports keyboards, mice, and standard USB HID peripherals. High-bandwidth devices such as webcams, USB audio interfaces, or storage drives are not supported over the KVM-over-IP link.
Can this decoder be used in a video wall configuration?
Yes. Each Z4KDECC3U can serve as a tile in a video wall up to 15x15, configured and managed via ZMP. USB functionality remains available at each decoder position regardless of video wall configuration.
What is the maximum cable distance for the primary network connection?
Cat6a up to 100 meters on the primary 10Gb RJ45 port. For longer distances, use the fiber decoder variant Z4KDECF3U which supports multimode fiber up to 300 meters.
How does the USB routing change when a source switch happens in ZMP?
When ZMP reroutes a decoder to a different encoder, both the video and USB connections follow the new routing. The USB peripheral at the decoder will disconnect from the previous source and connect to the new one within the routing switch time.
