Product Overview
The Cisco CTS-SX10-K9 TelePresence SX10 Quick Set is a combined codec and camera unit that video-enables a small collaboration space using a customer-supplied flat panel and a single PoE cable run. Cisco has placed the SX10 Quick Set end-of-sale, with an end-of-sale date of 28 January 2020 and a last date of support of 31 January 2025, so this listing serves installed-base support, break/fix replacement and standardised rollouts that must match existing rooms. This K9 encrypted version ships with the wall mount, the integrated 5x zoom camera and microphone, and the TRC6 remote control. Cisco names CS-KIT-MINI-K9 as the replacement product for the SX10 and identifies the Cisco Room Bar as the current equivalent.
Product Description
The SX10 mounts over a standard flat-panel display and drives it over a single HDMI output at up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps. Because the unit is PoE enabled on its one 100-Mbit RJ-45 LAN connector and draws a maximum of 12 watts in normal operation, an integrator can bring a huddle room online with one Cat cable to the display position and no local mains outlet behind the screen.
Two video inputs are provided, selectable as HDMI or VGA through the user interface, so a room PC and a guest laptop can both stay connected. Audio comes from one internal microphone plus one 4-pin mini-jack external microphone input that accepts the Cisco Table Microphone 20 or the Cisco Ceiling Microphone, with a mini-jack line out and HDMI digital main audio for the display. Control is the bundled TRC6 remote and the on-screen graphical interface, with the Cisco Touch 10 available as an optional control unit.
The unit registers natively to Cisco Unified Communications Manager or Cisco VCS/Expressway, supports H.323 and SIP, and works with third-party H.323 gatekeepers and standards-based SIP proxies, so it can be dropped into an existing mixed-vendor estate. Software support starts at Cisco TelePresence Software Version TC 7.1 or Cisco Collaboration Endpoint Software Version 8.0. Browse the wider Cisco range and our video conference systems for current platforms, or the small room collaboration collection when you are planning the migration away from SX-era hardware. Note that the last date of support has passed, so Cisco software maintenance, TAC support and service contract renewal are no longer available for this model.
Key Features
- Single-cable PoE installation — The SX10 is PoE enabled over one RJ-45 LAN connection and draws a maximum of 12 watts, so a huddle room can be commissioned with a single Cat cable run and no mains outlet behind the display.
- Integrated 5x zoom camera — The built-in camera provides 5x zoom with 2.65 optical and digital zoom, an 83-degree horizontal field of view and 1920 x 1080 progressive capture at 30 fps, which covers a small room without a separate PTZ head.
- Drives a customer-supplied flat panel — One HDMI output at up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps with EDID and VESA Monitor Power Management lets the site reuse an existing commercial display instead of buying an integrated screen system.
- Two selectable video inputs — The two inputs can each be set to HDMI or VGA from the user interface, so a room PC and a visitor laptop can stay permanently connected.
- Microphone expansion on a 4-pin mini-jack — The external microphone input accepts the Cisco Table Microphone 20 or the Cisco Ceiling Microphone when the internal microphone does not reach the far end of the table.
- Dual registration model — The endpoint registers natively to Cisco Unified Communications Manager or to Cisco VCS and Expressway, and Cisco also lists Cisco Webex registration, so the same hardware suits on-premises or cloud deployments.
- Standards-based interoperability — H.323 and SIP support, with third-party H.323 gatekeeper and SIP proxy compatibility, keeps the unit usable alongside non-Cisco infrastructure already installed in the building.
- Compact wall-mounted form factor — At 10.8 x 4.6 x 3.6 inches and 2.0 pounds the unit sits discreetly above a display, and the wall mount is supplied in the box.
Typical Applications
- Huddle room — Cisco designed the SX10 to video-enable small collaboration spaces, and the single PoE cable suits rooms with no AV rack or power provision behind the screen.
- Conference room — A standard flat panel plus the SX10 gives a small conference room a registered video endpoint without a separate codec, camera and controller.
- Commercial meeting space — Tenant and satellite offices standardised on SX10 rooms can keep a matching unit on the shelf for break/fix cover.
- Training room — The two selectable inputs let a trainer PC and a guest laptop remain patched in while the integrated camera covers the front of the room.
