Product Overview

The Z in this part number is the camera, and it changes what the room is good at. CS-KIT-EQ-Z-NR-K9 pairs the Cisco Codec EQ with the Cisco Room Vision PTZ, a motorised camera with a wide 80.5-degree horizontal field of view, 12x optical zoom inside a 60x total range and a tilt range of -25 to +90 degrees, supplied with no wireless radio fitted. Cisco makes the Smart PresenterTrack configuration wizard available with this camera, which shortens commissioning on presenter-tracking rooms. The codec drives three HDMI outputs at up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 fps with four 802.3bt PoE++ ports sharing a 90W budget.

Product Description

Room Vision PTZ sits between the Quad Camera and the PTZ 4K in the Room Kit EQ line. It gives motorised framing that a fixed bar cannot, at a wider 80.5-degree field of view than the PTZ 4K's 70 degrees, with 12x optical zoom rather than 20x. For a room that is wide rather than deep, and where PresenterTrack must be commissioned quickly across many sites, that is usually the right trade.

Published camera specifications are 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps or 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps, focus from 1.0 m to infinity, an F-value of 1.8 to 3.6, and control over IP on the LAN port with video carried over IP or HDMI 2.0 including RTSP streaming. Power is 42.5-57 V at 0.5-0.4 A on PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at compatible, Type 2), so the camera can run from a PoE+ port without a local outlet. PresenterTrack uses AI-powered head detection to follow an active presenter inside a defined zone.

Since no radio is fitted, Cisco lists Miracast as unavailable, and the room is designed around three HDMI inputs at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps, a USB-C input at up to 4K30 and USB-C passthrough for BYOD. Cisco publishes loudspeaker figures only for the Quad Camera, so room audio output on this bundle should be planned through the codec's three HDMI audio outputs, analog line out, USB paths or audio over IP into an installed conference audio system, with pickup from up to eight Cisco IP microphones.

The bundle ships as Cisco Codec EQ, the camera specified in the bundle, a region-specific power cord and a selection of one Cisco Room Navigator touch controller in table-stand or wall-mount form. RoomOS 11.1.2 or later is required, registration covers Webex, Cisco Unified CM 12.5 or later, Cisco Expressway and Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android, and Cisco publishes 18W in an active meeting for the bundle. Cisco publishes no seat count or square-footage figure for Room Kit EQ, naming only room types - large conference rooms, boardrooms, training rooms and auditoriums - so size the room from sightlines and microphone coverage rather than from a published capacity number. Compare configurations in large room solutions and browse camera hardware for additional tracking cameras.

Key Features

  • Room Vision PTZ camera — A motorised camera with 12x optical zoom inside a 60x total range, +/- 170 degree pan and -25 to +90 degree tilt gives framing control that a fixed camera bar cannot provide.
  • Wide 80.5-degree field of view — The Room Vision PTZ covers a wider horizontal field than the PTZ 4K option, which suits rooms that are wide rather than deep.
  • Smart PresenterTrack configuration wizard — Cisco makes the Smart PresenterTrack wizard available with the Room Vision PTZ, which shortens commissioning time on presenter-tracking rooms.
  • PoE+ camera power — The camera runs on PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at compatible, Type 2) at 42.5-57 V, so no local power outlet is needed at the camera position.
  • Video over IP or HDMI with RTSP — Camera control runs over IP on the LAN port and video can be carried over IP or HDMI 2.0, with RTSP streaming supported.
  • No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth radio — Cisco states Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not available in non-radio versions, so the system suits RF-restricted and accredited spaces.
  • Three 4K60 display outputs — Three HDMI outputs at up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 fps drive dual-display video plus a dedicated content screen.
  • Up to eight Cisco IP microphones — Audio over IP on the four PoE++ ports supports up to eight Cisco IP microphones for wide-table pickup.

Typical Applications

  • Training room — Smart PresenterTrack commissioning and AI-powered head detection follow an instructor within a defined zone.
  • Boardroom — motorised framing with an 80.5-degree field of view covers a wide table from a single camera position.
  • Government space — a system with no wireless radio meets facility policies barring unmanaged RF emitters.
  • Large conference room — three 4K60 outputs and up to eight IP microphones cover a substantial meeting space.
  • Multi-purpose room — PoE+ camera power and IP control allow the camera position to change as the room is reconfigured.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Room Vision PTZ compare with the PTZ 4K option?

Room Vision PTZ provides 12x optical zoom inside a 60x total range with an 80.5-degree horizontal field of view and an F-value of 1.8 to 3.6. The PTZ 4K Camera provides 20x optical zoom inside a 240x total range but a narrower 70-degree field of view. Cisco also makes the Smart PresenterTrack configuration wizard available with Room Vision PTZ.

What is removed on the non-radio version?

Cisco states Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not available in non-radio versions, and lists Miracast as unavailable on the non-radio version. Wired connectivity, PoE++ peripheral support and all HDMI and USB-C paths are unchanged.

What call control platforms does Room Kit EQ register to?

Cisco lists native registration on Cisco Unified Communications Manager v12.5 or later, native registration with Cisco Expressway, Webex, and third-party H.323 gatekeepers and standards-based SIP proxies. The system also runs Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android, with native Webex meetings available when registered in Control Hub.

How many displays does the system drive?

Three HDMI outputs, each supporting formats up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 fps, with CEC 2.0. An interactive touch screen connects using an HDMI output plus USB-A.

How many microphones can be added?

The codec connects to up to eight Cisco IP microphones over the four PoE++ Ethernet ports, and also accepts three analog mini-jack inputs, three HDMI embedded inputs, one USB-C and one USB-A audio input.

Does the kit power its own peripherals?

Four PoE++ (802.3bt) 10/100/1000 ports share a total power budget of up to 90W, which Cisco allocates to camera control, the Room Navigator touch controller and AV-over-IP room peripherals.

What size room is Room Kit EQ intended for?

Cisco names large conference rooms, boardrooms, training rooms and auditoriums but publishes no seat count or square-footage figure for Room Kit EQ, so room sizing should be driven by camera framing distance and microphone coverage rather than a capacity number.
