Product Overview
Sites that will not accept a wireless radio in the room specify the CS-DESKP-NR-C-K9, the no-radio build of the Cisco Desk Pro G2 in Carbon Black. Cisco states that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not available on non-radio versions, so this unit is a wired-only endpoint: no Wi-Fi 6E association, no Bluetooth headset pairing, and Cisco notes Miracast and the forthcoming AirPlay sharing are not available on the non-radio version. Everything else is the standard Desk Pro G2, a 27-inch 4K touch display with a 48MP telelens and a 14.5MP 105-degree wide-angle lens. The Desk Pro G2 carries no end-of-sale notice, so a secure estate can standardise on this part number without inheriting a short lifecycle.
Product Description
The design consequence of a no-radio endpoint is that every capability has to arrive over the RJ-45 drop, so the cabling design carries more weight than it does on a commercial floor. That is easier here than on most endpoints: the internal two-port Cisco Ethernet switch on 10/100/1000BASE-T carries both the endpoint and a co-located PC on one accredited termination, which keeps the port count and the documentation burden down in a facility where every connection is recorded.
Wired content and BYOD paths are unaffected by the missing radio. A single USB-C cable still extends the laptop display at 3840 x 2160 at 60 fps, forwards touch on supported operating systems, exposes the camera, microphone and speakers to any software client and charges the laptop at up to 80 W, and the HDMI 2.0 type A input still accepts a local source at 4Kp60. In practice a no-radio room loses casual wireless screen sharing and gains a cable, which most secure sites regard as the correct trade.
Headsets are the detail that catches people out on a no-radio order: with Bluetooth removed, plan on wired USB headsets at the side and rear USB ports rather than pairing. Registration is unchanged, with Webex, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom for Cisco Rooms, H.323, SIP and WebRTC listed, and native Unified CM 14 or later or Expressway for on-premises call control. Sites building out matching restricted meeting spaces will find the room-side equivalents in the small room collaboration and video conference systems ranges within the Cisco collaboration portfolio.
Key Features
- No wireless radio fitted — Cisco states Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not available on non-radio versions, which is what allows the endpoint into SCIFs, shielded rooms, clinical areas and other sites operating an RF restriction.
- Wired-only network path — With the radio removed, the internal two-port 10/100/1000BASE-T Cisco Ethernet switch is the only network path, and it still carries a co-located PC on the same single drop.
- Dual-lens camera system — A 48MP 70-degree telelens and a 14.5MP 105-degree wide-angle lens, both with phase detection autofocus and backed by 2x optical and 5x digital zoom, let one unit frame a single person at a desk or a group of up to five.
- 27-inch 4K touch display — The 3840 x 2160 panel runs at 350 cd/m2 with 2000:1 contrast, 10-bit colour and 98% DCI-P3 coverage, which is enough colour accuracy for the device to serve as the user's primary monitor rather than a second screen.
- Single-cable laptop docking — One USB-C cable carries 4K60 display extension, touch forwarding, camera, microphone and speaker passthrough and 80 W of laptop charging, and Cisco states a cable supporting USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 and 100 W charging or better is required for best performance.
- HDMI 4K input for wired sources — An HDMI 2.0 type A input accepts a local source at up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 fps, so a guest laptop or a room PC can present without joining the call.
- On-premises call control — Native registration to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 14 or later with the Desk Pro G2 device pack, and to Expressway, allows the endpoint to join an existing on-premises estate instead of a cloud-only deployment.
- Directional three-channel audio — Left, centre and right channels with mechanically balanced dual woofers reach down to 45 Hz, and an eight-element beamforming array with AI-powered noise removal handles speech pickup at desk distance.
Typical Applications
- Government space — RF-restricted and accredited areas that prohibit an active wireless radio in the room.
- Commercial meeting space — corporate sites operating a no-wireless policy for a specific floor or department.
- Huddle room — small restricted meeting spaces that still need coverage for up to five people on a wired-only endpoint.
- Training room — instructor positions in facilities where trainee devices are barred from associating with anything in the room.
