Product Overview
Secure facilities approve hardware on what it cannot do as much as on what it can. CS-BAR-NR-L-UK9 is the no-radio Cisco Room Bar: Cisco states that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not available on non-radio versions, which makes it deployable in SCIFs, RF-restricted rooms and healthcare or government spaces where wireless emitters are barred. The U designator marks it as a standalone BYOD unit, so the Room Navigator touch panel is not included and must be budgeted separately. The bar is First Light and is current Cisco product.
Product Description
Understand what the radio removal costs before specifying. Without Wi-Fi the bar must be wired, which is Cisco's recommendation in any case since it states Ethernet is always preferred for high performance. Miracast wireless sharing is not available on the non-radio version, and Apple AirPlay falls back to Bonjour service discovery only. Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy are absent, as are Bluetooth audio input and output.
Everything wired remains. One HDMI input and one USB-C input each accept up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps, two HDMI outputs drive displays to 3840 x 2160 at 60 fps with CEC 2.0, and USB-C passthrough gives a guest laptop the bar's camera, microphone and speakers on a single cable. Content sharing over the Webex app and Microsoft Teams Cast are unaffected by the radio removal.
For accreditation, the compliance position also changes: Cisco lists the non-radio versions under the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the Low-Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU rather than the Radio Equipment Directive that covers the radio versions.
