Product Overview

A bring-your-own-device room does not need a touch panel, and CS-BAR-L-UK9 is the Cisco Room Bar priced and packaged accordingly. Cisco states that when the Room Bar is ordered for BYOD-only mode the Room Navigator touch panel is not included, which is what the U in this part number signals; the bar is supplied in First Light. Users connect a laptop with one USB-C cable and get the bar's camera, microphone and speakers plus content sharing and display extension. Product Description

The single-cable model is what makes this configuration work in practice. USB-C passthrough presents the bar as a camera, microphone and speaker set to the connected computer, carries content sharing on the same cable, and extends the desktop to 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps where the laptop supports Alt-mode DisplayPort. Any meeting platform the user runs on the laptop therefore works without the bar being registered anywhere.

That does not preclude adding a managed mode later. The same hardware runs native RoomOS for Webex with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet interoperability, or the native Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android application, and registers on premises to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 12.5(1) or later with the Room Bar device pack or to Expressway. A Room Navigator added on the bar's dedicated PoE port converts a BYOD room into a managed one.

Room design follows Cisco's published guidance: the 4-element beamforming array is optimised for up to five people seated within three metres, with an external microphone recommended for larger groups.
