Product Overview

Federal buyers need two answers from a part number before it can go on a requisition: is it TAA, and what is actually in the box. CS-BAR-L-UK9++ answers both. The ++ suffix marks Cisco's TAA part numbers, which Cisco describes as TAA for U.S. Government, and the U marks it as a standalone BYOD unit — Cisco states that when the Room Bar is ordered for BYOD-only mode the Room Navigator touch panel is not included. Budget a Room Navigator separately if the room needs an in-room control surface. The bar is First Light and is current Cisco product.

Product Description

Standalone ordering suits agency rooms more often than it first appears. A room used mainly for guest laptops and desktop clients needs the bar's camera, microphone and speakers over one USB-C cable rather than a touch panel, and leaving the Navigator out removes both cost and a second network endpoint from the room's accreditation paperwork.

Where a control surface is required later it can be added without rework, because the bar carries a dedicated 100/1000 Mbps PoE Ethernet port for direct Room Navigator pairing. Cisco ships an 8 m flat Ethernet cable for the Navigator in the box even on standalone units, along with a 1.5 m HDMI 2.0 cable, the PSU-12VDC-86W power supply, a camera privacy cover and the mounting kit.

The security documentation an agency network team will ask for is published: 802.1X network authentication, 802.1Q VLAN, secure management over HTTPS and SSH, SRTP media encryption with AES-128-GCM or AES-256-GCM, and a Manufacturer Installed Certificate signed by Cisco's manufacturing CA for CAPF onboarding to Cisco Unified Communications Manager. On-premises registration to CUCM 12.5(1) or later with the Room Bar device pack is supported. Browse the range in video bars and small room collaboration.

Note that this is the radio version. Facilities that require Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to be absent should quote a no-radio (NR) part number instead. Both variants and the rest of the range are listed under Cisco.

Key Features

  • TAA part number for U.S. Government — Cisco describes its ++ SKUs as TAA for U.S. Government, so the unit can be quoted under Trade Agreements Act procurement rules.
  • Standalone BYOD unit — Cisco states the Room Navigator touch panel is not included when the Room Bar is ordered for BYOD-only mode, so the control surface is a separate budget line.
  • USB-C BYOD passthrough — One USB-C cable gives a guest laptop the bar's camera, microphone and speakers, and carries content sharing and display extension to 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps on the same cable.
  • Room Navigator PoE port — A dedicated 100/1000 Mbps PoE Ethernet port powers and pairs a Cisco Room Navigator touch panel directly from the bar, removing the need for a separate injector or switch port.
  • 802.1X and VLAN support — 802.1X network authentication, 802.1Q VLAN tagging and 802.1p CoS let the bar sit on a segmented enterprise network under standard access policy.
  • End-to-end and media encryption — Standards-based SRTP media encryption using AES-128-GCM or AES-256-GCM, H.235 v3 with AES, and support for end-to-end encryption in Webex meetings and calls.
  • 12 MP camera with 120-degree field of view — A 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor at f/2.5 with 5x digital zoom, auto framing, speaker tracking and Frames mode keeps small-room participants correctly framed at 30 fps.
  • Dual-screen support — Two HDMI outputs supporting up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 fps drive two displays from a single video bar without an external codec or splitter.
  • Camera privacy cover and on-air LED — A physical privacy cover ships with the bar and a green Camera On LED indicates when the lens is live, which addresses the usual objection in shared and confidential spaces.

Typical Applications

  • Government space — Agencies get documented 802.1X authentication, SRTP media encryption and manufacturer-installed certificates on a device small enough for a standard secure meeting room.
  • Huddle room — Cisco optimises the internal microphone array for huddle spaces with up to five people seated within three metres of the device.
  • Conference room — A small bookable meeting room gets camera, microphone, speakers and codec from one bar mounted above or below the display.
  • Multi-purpose room — Dual HDMI outputs and USB-C BYOD passthrough let one room serve managed meetings, guest laptops and content playback without reconfiguration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this SKU TAA compliant?

The ++ suffix marks Cisco's TAA part numbers, which Cisco describes as TAA for U.S. Government. Agencies procuring under Trade Agreements Act rules should quote the ++ part number specifically; contact Creation Networks for the documentation your contracting officer requires.

Is a Room Navigator included?

No. The U designator marks a standalone BYOD unit and Cisco states the Room Navigator touch panel is not included on those SKUs. Order a Room Navigator separately if the room needs an in-room touch controller; the bar has a dedicated PoE port to power and pair one.

How is the device secured on the network?

Cisco documents 802.1X network authentication, 802.1Q VLAN, secure management over HTTPS and SSH, SRTP media encryption with AES-128-GCM or AES-256-GCM, and a Manufacturer Installed Certificate signed by Cisco's manufacturing CA for CAPF onboarding to Cisco UCM.

Does it work as a USB device for a guest laptop?

Yes. USB-C passthrough provides camera, microphone and speakers to a connected computer over a single cable, carries content sharing on the same cable, and extends the display to 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps where the computer supports Alt-mode DisplayPort.

How is the Room Bar powered?

By an external power supply, not PoE. Cisco specifies 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz with a 12 V DC input at 86 W peak, and states the unit must be used with power supply PSU-12VDC-86W. Consumption is 14.3 W in an active meeting, 8.2 W idle and 7 W in networked standby.

What call-control platforms does it register to?

Native RoomOS for Webex managed in Control Hub, with video interoperability for Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet; or the native Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android application; or on-premises registration to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 12.5(1) or later with the Room Bar device pack, to Expressway, or to third-party H.323 gatekeepers and standards-based SIP proxies.

What size room does the Room Bar suit?

Cisco publishes no headline room-size rating. It states the internal microphone array is optimised for huddle spaces and small meeting rooms with up to five people seated within three metres of the device, and recommends adding an external microphone in mid-sized rooms with more than five people.

What warranty applies?

Cisco publishes a 1-year limited liability warranty for the Room Bar. Warranty is handled per Cisco's standard terms for this product class — contact Creation Networks to confirm coverage for your order.
