Product Overview

CP-DX70-W-NR-K9= is the no-radio version of the Cisco DX70 14-inch desktop endpoint, supplied as a spare or service unit. Cisco defines the NR designation on the DX family as a version with all wireless hardware and functions - that is, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth - removed for users and countries where wireless operation is undesired or prohibited, with no other specification differences. That makes this the part to order for secure facilities, RF-restricted buildings and sites whose policy bars wireless radios on desk devices. Cisco placed the DX70 end-of-sale on 16 August 2018 with a last date of support of 31 August 2023, naming Cisco Webex Desk Mini as the replacement.

Product Description

What you lose without the radio is straightforward: there is no Wi-Fi uplink and no Bluetooth headset or device pairing, so the unit must be wired and any headset must be USB or use the 3.5 mm analog headset jack. What you keep is everything else on the DX70 - a 14-inch 1920 x 1080 AHVA panel with a 10-point multitouch surface, a 1080p30 camera with a 63-degree horizontal field of view and a privacy shutter, an analog omnidirectional microphone and audio playback from 100 Hz to 15 kHz at plus or minus 3 dB.

The = suffix is Cisco's spare and service designation. Order it when an existing DX70 position has failed and must be replaced like for like, rather than when specifying a new estate. Cabling is a single RJ-45 drop into the internal 2-port Cisco Ethernet switch, which also serves the user's PC with separate 802.1Q VLANs. The device is mains powered - rated 3.5 A at 12 V maximum, transformer CP-PWR-CUBE-5= - and is not a PoE device.

Port provision is generous for a 14-inch unit: an HDMI type A input for PC or Mac video up to 1080p30, three USB 2.0 type A ports with the side port supplying 2 A for charging and the two rear ports 500 mA each, a Micro SD slot for expansion to 32 GB and a 3.5 mm headphone and headset jack. Mounting is the retractable foot stand or the optional CP-DX70-VESA= adapter and wall mounting option. See video conference systems for current desk devices, display mounts for arm and wall hardware, and Cisco for the wider range.

Key Features

  • Wireless hardware removed — Cisco describes the no-radio DX variant as having all wireless hardware and functions removed for users and countries where wireless operation is undesired or prohibited, with no other specification changes.
  • Spare and service part number — The = suffix is Cisco's spare designation, so this is the correct order form for replacing a failed unit in an existing deployment rather than building a new estate.
  • 14-inch multitouch display — A 1920 x 1080 AHVA panel with a 10-point multitouch surface, 700:1 typical contrast and plus or minus 178-degree viewing angles suits a personal desk position.
  • Camera privacy shutter — The physical shutter satisfies privacy policies in healthcare, legal and government environments where always-on desk cameras are otherwise resisted.
  • Wired-only network path — With no Wi-Fi, the internal 2-port Cisco Ethernet switch and a single RJ-45 drop are the only network path, which is exactly what a controlled-RF site requires.
  • USB charging and headset support — Three USB 2.0 type A ports, with 2 A on the side port for charging, plus a 3.5 mm headphone and headset jack cover wired headsets where Bluetooth is unavailable.
  • VESA mounting option — CP-DX70-VESA= provides Cisco's VESA adapter and wall mounting option for positions where desk space is restricted.

Typical Applications

  • Government space — Facilities that prohibit wireless radios on endpoint hardware can deploy a wired-only desk video device without a waiver.
  • Commercial meeting space — Touchdown and shared desks in RF-controlled buildings gain video without adding a wireless client to the estate.
  • Conference room — A small room needing a single self-contained wired endpoint can use the DX70 on the table.
