What is the Christie 140-166104-01 short zoom lens?

This is the short-throw zoom lens for the Christie Korus Series, covering a 0.5–0.65:1 throw ratio with full Intelligent Lens System support and 4K compatibility. It fits the Korus 4K1000-KS and 4K1400-KS, both of which ship as no-lens bodies.

When a short throw is the answer

At 0.5–0.65:1 this lens fills a screen from roughly half to two-thirds of the image width away. A 10-foot-wide image needs only 5 to 6.5 feet of throw distance, against 12.5 to 20 feet for the standard zoom.

That solves specific problems: a shallow room where the projector cannot sit far enough back, a ceiling structure that dictates mounting position, a presenter standing near the screen who would otherwise cast a shadow, or a retrofit where the mount position is already fixed.

Short throw demands precision

Short-throw optics magnify positioning errors. A small deviation in mounting angle produces a visible geometric distortion that would be negligible on a standard lens. Full ILS motorised shift, zoom and focus help, and Christie Twist on the projector corrects the remainder — but getting the mount right is still the job.

The lens is a required line item

Korus projectors are supplied without a lens so the optic matches the room. A Korus ordered without a lens cannot produce an image.

Frequently Asked Questions

How close can the projector sit to the screen?

At 0.5–0.65:1, roughly half to two-thirds of the image width. For a 10-foot image that is 5 to 6.5 feet.

Which Korus projectors does this fit?

Both the 4K1000-KS and 4K1400-KS. The lens mount is common across the series.

Does short throw reduce image quality?

No, but it is less forgiving of mounting error. Small positioning deviations produce larger geometric effects, which is what Christie Twist on the projector corrects.

What if I need a longer throw?

The 1.25–2.0:1 standard zoom lens (140-165103-01) covers typical room distances on the same projectors.

Can Creation Networks specify the right lens?

Yes. Short-throw installations are particularly sensitive to mounting position, so we calculate throw and image geometry against the room drawing before anything is ordered. Call 888-230-3661 or email sales@creationnetworks.net.
