What is the Christie 118-132107-01 lens?
A fixed 0.67:1 lens with ultra high contrast optics on an ILS1 mount, for use with Christie M Series RGB projectors only. It is the short-throw fixed option where the projector-to-screen distance is known and will not change.
Fixed rather than zoom
A fixed lens has fewer elements than a zoom, which means less internal scatter and better contrast — reinforcing what the UHC coating already does. The trade is that image size is set entirely by throw distance, so the mount position has to be right before it goes in.
At 0.67:1 a 10-foot-wide image needs 6.7 feet of throw.
Ultra high contrast
UHC optics preserve the black levels an RGB pure laser projector is capable of. On a standard lens, internal reflection lifts the black floor and wastes the contrast performance that justified specifying pure laser.
Where deep blacks are the deliverable — museums, attractions, theatre, mapped surfaces — the lens choice is as consequential as the projector choice.
