What is the Christie 177-101103-01 left-eye Infitec 3D filter?
The Christie 177-101103-01 is the 66 mm left-eye Infitec 3D filter for the Christie Sapphire 4K40-RGBH projector's Intelligent Filter Holder (IFH). Installed in one projector of a dual-projector pair, it produces the left-eye image for Infitec color-comb passive 3D. It is used in dark rides, media-based attractions, visualization powerwalls and immersive 3D venues.
How does the Christie 177-101103-01 work?
Infitec color comb 3D separates left and right images by wavelength rather than polarization. Each projector carries a matching optical filter, and the audience wears Infitec glasses that pass only the matching wavelengths to each eye. Because the separation is spectral, it works on standard gain screens, rear-projection surfaces and other surfaces that do not preserve polarization.
When this left-eye filter is installed in the Christie Sapphire 4K40-RGBH, the projector recognizes the filter type through the IFH and automatically configures its settings for left-eye output. Christie positions Sapphire's Infitec solution as delivering better light efficiency and a broader color gamut than traditional laser phosphor and lamp-based 3D projectors.
A complete system uses this filter in one projector and the right-eye filter 177-102104-01 in the second. Infitec 3D glasses are purchased separately from Infitec. Christie recommends a Hawkeye sensor-to-screen calibration the first time a filter type is used, and Sapphire stores LiteLOC calibration per filter type so changing filters does not discard data.
