It adds high frame rate 4K, active 3D and very high frame rate 2K to a projector already in the rack or on the rig, without changing the chassis. How does the Christie 163-163101-01 work?
A standard Griffyn projector runs at 24 to 60 Hz. Christie's Mirage option raises that to 4K at 120 Hz and 4K 3D at 60 Hz per eye. Mirage Pro, which this kit enables, includes everything in Mirage plus 2K-resolution 2D content at 240 to 480 Hz (scaled), 2K-resolution 3D content at 120 Hz per eye, and Christie View, a simultaneous multi-content viewer. Christie View lets one projector show multiple inputs overlaid on each other, supporting four mono (2D) views at 60 Hz per user or two stereo (3D) views at 60 Hz per eye.
Installation is done in software. Christie Technical Support issues a license file (.key) that is valid only for the projector serial numbers specified at the time of order. The license is applied with the Christie Projector License Utility in Christie Twist version 2.8 or later, with the projector and computer on the same Ethernet network, and the projector is rebooted afterward. For large-venue and simulation projects we collect serials up front, bring projectors to current software, and verify that image generators and signal paths can actually deliver the higher frame rates before the license is applied.
