Product Overview

The ChamSys MagicQ MQ50 compact lighting console is built for permanent installation in small to medium venues that need professional lighting control without a large operator footprint. As a commercial-grade DMX lighting controller supporting 8 universes, it suits house of worship installs, school theatres, club integration, and multi-purpose room deployments. The 10.1" multi-touch display and ten Cue Stack playbacks give programmers full control in a rack-adjacent or tabletop format. Its silent, fanless operation makes it appropriate for quiet performance environments.

Product Description

The MQ50 brings the full MagicQ software platform to a compact chassis intended for fixed-install and small touring use. The console outputs 8 universes through four assignable physical DMX ports plus a network port for Art-Net and sACN, so integrators can scale output between hardwired fixtures and networked nodes during deployment. RDM support on both the direct DMX ports and the network connection allows remote device configuration and addressing without physical access to each fixture.

Built-in WiFi connects the console directly to the ChamSys MagicQ Remote application, letting a technician focus fixtures from the floor without external networking hardware or network configuration knowledge. The 10.1" HD multi-touch display, eight attribute encoders, and dedicated grand master and crossfade faders give programmers direct, tactile access during a show. An HDMI output drives an external monitor up to 1920x1200 for an expanded programming workspace in a control room or booth.

ChamSys MagicQ MQ50 rear panel DMX and network connectivity

Because the MQ50 shares the same software and show file format as the entire MagicQ range, show files move between the MQ50 and larger consoles for integration into existing ChamSys infrastructure. MagicVis visualisation and MagicHD media connectivity extend the console into pre-visualisation and media playback workflows. It ships with a dual-colour desk light, dust cover, and Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 power cable.

Key Features

  • 8 universes of output — Drives up to 4096 channels directly from the console via four DMX ports and networked Art-Net or sACN for mid-sized installations.
  • 10.1" multi-touch display — Provides a high-resolution touchscreen programming surface that keeps the console compact enough for tight install locations.
  • Built-in WiFi remote — Connects to the MagicQ Remote app for wireless focusing without adding external networking hardware to the deployment.
  • RDM support — Enables remote fixture addressing and configuration over both direct DMX ports and the network connection.
  • Silent fanless operation — Runs without cooling-fan noise, making it suitable for theatres and other quiet performance spaces.
  • Full MagicQ software compatibility — Uses the same show format as every console in the range, so files transfer across the MagicQ product line.
  • MagicVis and MagicHD connectivity — Extends the console into pre-visualisation and HD media playback for integrated production workflows.
  • Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 input — Accepts 110 to 240 VAC for reliable, locking power in permanent and portable commercial deployments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What lighting protocols does the MQ50 support for integration?

The console outputs DMX over four direct ports and supports Art-Net, sACN, and Pathport over its network port, so it integrates with both hardwired fixtures and networked DMX nodes. RDM is supported on the direct ports and the network connection.

Can the MQ50 be installed in a fixed AV or rack environment?

Yes. The compact 525mm x 350mm chassis and silent fanless operation make it well suited to permanent install locations such as control booths and equipment areas. It uses a locking Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 input for reliable power.

How does the wireless remote focusing work?

The MQ50 has built-in WiFi that connects directly to the ChamSys MagicQ Remote application, allowing a technician to focus fixtures from the venue floor without adding external networking hardware.

Is the MQ50 compatible with other MagicQ consoles?

Yes. The MQ50 runs the same MagicQ software and uses the same show file format as the entire MagicQ range, so show files transfer between consoles for backup, expansion, or multi-console integration.

Does the console support media and visualisation workflows?

The MQ50 connects to MagicVis for pre-visualisation and MagicHD for HD media playback, and supports up to 50 media server layers, extending it into integrated production workflows.

What support and documentation are available?

ChamSys publishes the MagicQ user manual, spec sheets, and training resources, and provides free MagicQ software downloads. Contact our team at Creation Networks for warranty, integration, and commercial deployment support.
