Product Overview
The ChamSys MagicQ DIN is a DIN rail mount lighting controller that brings the full MagicQ platform to cabinet and control-room installations. As a compact installed lighting control system supporting 24 DMX universes (expandable to 48), it mounts directly on standard DIN rail alongside other building control hardware. It suits house of worship, theatre, and architectural installations that need powerful, schedulable lighting control inside an electrical enclosure. Running the same MagicQ software as the console range, show files move directly between the DIN and other MagicQ products.
Product Description
MagicQ DIN delivers the complete MagicQ feature set in a chassis built to clip onto DIN rail inside a control cabinet or distribution enclosure. It is intended for headless installed operation, supporting scheduled events, OSC, UDP, and other remote protocols so lighting runs automatically without a permanent operator. This makes it appropriate for cabinet-based architectural deployments and fixed commercial venues.
The controller outputs 24 universes of DMX, expandable to 48 via licence upgrade, through two RDM-enabled DMX outputs on Phoenix screw-terminal connectors suited to permanent in-cabinet wiring. Four 10Scene ports support up to forty 10Scene wall plates for building-wide scene recall, and built-in WiFi allows programming and remote control without a wired operator station. An HDMI output drives an external monitor at 1920x1080 for commissioning and configuration.
Because it runs the same software as MagicQ consoles, the DIN supports pixel mapping, multi-element fixture control, the built-in FX generator, a colour picker, and a fixture library of over 48,000 files. It is powered from a 12V DC supply (included) for clean integration into low-voltage cabinet wiring. Show files transfer between the DIN and other MagicQ consoles for backup, expansion, or off-site programming.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the MagicQ DIN mount in an installation?
The unit clips directly onto standard DIN rail using the supplied mount clips, allowing it to sit inside a control cabinet or distribution enclosure alongside other building hardware.
What DMX connectors does it use?
The DIN provides two RDM-enabled DMX outputs on Phoenix screw-terminal connectors, which suit permanent hardwired in-cabinet connections rather than plug-in cabling.
Can it run lighting automatically without an operator?
Yes. It supports scheduled events, OSC, UDP, and other remote protocols for headless installed operation, making it suitable for unattended architectural and commercial spaces.
How is the MagicQ DIN powered?
It runs from a 12V DC supply, included in the box, allowing clean integration into low-voltage cabinet wiring.
Is it compatible with other MagicQ consoles?
Yes. It runs the same MagicQ software and show file format as the console range, so show files transfer between the DIN and MagicQ consoles for backup or off-site programming.
What support is available for installation?
ChamSys publishes the MagicQ manual, 10Scene wiring and cable specifications, and training resources. Contact Creation Networks for warranty, integration, and commercial deployment support.
