Product Overview
The Cambridge Sound Dynasound DS2408 is a network-connected pipe, duct, conduit, and wall sound masker, part number 911.0809.900, built for SCIF and secure-room eavesdropping protection. It defends structural penetrations against human and electronic eavesdropping by filling pipes, ducts, and wall planes with full-bandwidth sound masking. The unit attaches to the exterior of square or round pipes and ducts, or to the vertical surface of partition walls, in a durable plenum-rated metal housing.
Product Description
Pipes, ducts, and conduits that breach the perimeter of a secure environment act as acoustic conduits that can carry conversations beyond the protected boundary. The DS2408 secures these paths by resonating the penetration itself, filling it with masking sound and, where specified, misinformation signals. It also resonates the plane of any wall along a secure perimeter, extending protection to the partition itself. Mounting is external, so the unit does not penetrate ductwork, cause pressure drop, or alter airflow. The DS2408 is critical to securing pipes and ducts when DIAM and DCID requirements for SCIF accreditation must be met. As the network variant in the DS2400 family, it deploys within DynasoundPro networked masking systems alongside other Dynasound security maskers. The unit is lightweight and straightforward to install on round or square profiles. Source companion maskers and network hardware from the Cambridge Sound collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- Penetration Masking — fills pipes, square ducts, round ducts, and walls with full-bandwidth sound masking.
- SCIF Compliance Support — helps satisfy DIAM and DCID requirements for accredited secure rooms.
- Counter-Eavesdropping — protects against both human listeners and electronic interception on structural paths.
- No Airflow Impact — external duct mounting causes no pressure drop and does not alter airflow.
- Misinformation Capable — can fill penetrations with masking and/or misinformation signals.
- Durable Construction — plenum-rated metal housing built for above-ceiling and mechanical spaces.
- Lightweight Installation — attaches to round or square ducts, pipes, and vertical wall surfaces.
Typical Applications
The DS2408 is deployed in SCIFs and secure government facilities, defense contractor secure rooms, embassy and intelligence spaces, and corporate boardrooms with elevated counter-surveillance requirements, wherever ducts, pipes, or conduits cross a secure perimeter.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the DS2408 protect against?
Human and electronic eavesdropping through pipes, ducts, conduits, and walls that cross the perimeter of a secure environment.
Does mounting it on ductwork affect HVAC performance?
No. The masker attaches to the exterior of the duct and does not cause pressure drop or alter airflow.
How does it relate to SCIF accreditation?
It is used to secure pipe and duct penetrations when DIAM and DCID requirements for SCIF must be met.
What is the difference between the DS2408 and DS2400?
The DS2408 is the network-connected variant for DynasoundPro networked systems, while the DS2400 is the 70V version for constant-voltage amplifier-driven systems.
Can it transmit signals other than masking?
Yes. It can fill penetrations with sound masking and/or misinformation signals as the security design requires.
