Product Overview
The Cambridge Sound NPX H1040 (part number 911.1840.900) is a 4-button convenience paging station with a handheld microphone for Qt X and Tesira systems. Embedded DSP and on-board memory support standard and advanced public address functions, with digital audio and control data carried over AVB or Dante. It stores four user-configurable page codes and up to 10 prerecorded messages. The H1040 suits positions that page a handful of fixed zones with the flexibility of a handheld mic.
Product Description
The H1040 pairs a push-to-talk handheld microphone — noise-canceling, with a magnetic latch for clean storage — with four dedicated page-code buttons and a backlit LCD, keeping operation simple for non-technical staff. Up to 16 software-configurable priority levels arbitrate between simultaneous pages, and local digital signal processing conditions microphone audio before it reaches the network. A 50-minute recording pool covers all 10 stored messages, and default or custom preambles are stored locally so chimes play without network round trips. The station is powered by PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at Class 3, 15.4 W) over a single Gigabit Ethernet connection carrying both audio and control via AVB or Dante. It mounts on a tabletop or, with the removable foot detached, flat against a wall; a K-slot accepts an optional Kensington lock and an optional PIN restricts unauthorized use. Within a Tesira system, up to 16 paging stations and 32 paging zones are supported per configuration, and stored messages can be triggered from the event scheduler or logic functions. The H1040 is NRTL listed to UL 62638-1 and CSA C22.2 #62368-1, CE marked, and RoHS compliant. Pair it with masking controllers and the AVB switch from the Cambridge Sound range.

Frequently Asked Questions
What systems does the NPX H1040 work with?
It integrates with Cambridge Qt X sound masking systems and all Biamp Tesira server-class devices, paging through the same loudspeaker or emitter network.
How does it differ from the NPX H1100?
The H1040 provides four dedicated page-code buttons for simple fixed-destination paging, while the H1100 offers a 10-button keypad with up to 999 page codes for larger facilities.
AVB or Dante — which should I use?
The station supports both; all paging stations in a system must use the same protocol, selected during configuration. AVB requires AVB-capable switches, while Dante needs a compatible network per Audinate guidelines.
How many stations and zones can a system support?
A Tesira system supports up to 16 paging stations and 32 paging zones per configuration.
Is it suitable for emergency notification?
No. Tesira is not a life-safety system; fire panel integration and redundancy require a dedicated life-safety paging platform. Request a quote from Creation Networks to scope the right solution.
