Product Overview

The Cambridge Sound Dynasound DS3002 (part number 911.0818.900) is a 1RU sound masking generator, mixer, and controller for centralized and networked masking systems. It provides four independent sound masking generators, two balanced inputs, and two balanced outputs, with a matrix mixer that routes any combination of signals to any destination. Sound masking raises the ambient background level so nearby speech becomes unintelligible, supporting privacy in both traditional 70V centralized systems and networked addressable designs. CobraNet digital audio networking is available on all inputs and outputs.

Product Description

Each of the DS3002's four masking generators includes 1/3-octave band equalization plus adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters, allowing precise spectral shaping per masking channel. The two balanced line-level inputs accept paging and music sources and provide per-channel level control, equalization, and configurable soft-knee compression to keep announcements intelligible without level surprises. The two balanced line-level outputs include per-channel level control for both analog and network audio. The matrix mixer is the core of the architecture: any mix of incoming signals and masking generators can be routed to either balanced output or onto the CobraNet network, which makes the unit equally at home feeding 70V amplifier chains, networked addressable loudspeaker systems, or hybrid topologies combining both. Control and monitoring run over a standard Ethernet connection (RJ-45) from a switched network or a single PC. Total harmonic distortion from 20 Hz to 20 kHz is under 0.01 percent, and power consumption is a maximum of 2 watts at 16 VAC. The unit is ETL listed to UL60065 and covered by the manufacturer's five-year warranty. Pair the DS3002 with masking loudspeakers and controllers from the Cambridge Sound range.

Key Features

  • Four independent masking generators — each with 1/3-octave EQ and adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters.
  • Matrix mixer routing — send any mix of inputs and masking sources to any balanced output or to the network.
  • Two processed inputs — balanced line-level inputs with level control, EQ, and configurable soft-knee compression for paging and music.
  • Two balanced outputs — per-channel level control for analog and network audio destinations.
  • CobraNet ready — digital audio networking on all inputs and outputs for networked addressable systems.
  • Topology flexibility — serves traditional 70V centralized systems, networked systems, or combinations of both.
  • Ethernet control — configuration and monitoring over a standard switched network or a single PC.
  • Low distortion, low power — THD under 0.01% (20 Hz - 20 kHz); 2 W maximum consumption at 16 VAC.

Typical Applications

  • Centralized 70V sound masking systems in open offices
  • Networked Dynasound masking deployments across large floors
  • Healthcare facilities protecting patient conversations (HIPAA speech privacy)
  • Law and financial offices requiring tunable speech privacy
  • Government and secure facilities integrating masking with paging

Frequently Asked Questions

What systems does the DS3002 fit into?
It serves traditional 70V centralized masking systems, CobraNet networked addressable systems, and hybrid designs combining both approaches.

How is coverage determined?
Coverage depends on the loudspeaker network and amplification it feeds. Per configuration — confirm with Creation Networks for a design sized to your floor plan.

Can it process paging and music?
Yes. Two balanced inputs include level control, equalization, and soft-knee compression, and the matrix mixer routes them with masking to any output.

How is the unit configured?
Control and monitoring run over a standard Ethernet connection from a switched network or a single PC.

What warranty applies?
The DS3002 carries the manufacturer's five-year warranty. Request a quote from Creation Networks for project pricing and integration.
