Product Overview
The C2G CG39002 LANsmart TDR Cable Tester is a professional-grade structured cabling diagnostic tool for AV integrators, IT technicians, and facilities managers. Using Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) technology, it detects, locates, and displays wiring faults — opens, shorts, miswirings, reversals, split pairs, and shield continuity — in RJ45, Cat5, Cat6, UTP, and STP cable. It also measures cable length without a remote unit, making it a standalone field tool for commissioning and troubleshooting structured cabling in conference rooms, data centers, and commercial AV installations.
Product Description

The LANsmart displays test results in a pin-to-pin format for clear fault identification. TDR technology allows the tester to measure cable length and locate fault positions in real time without a remote terminator at the far end — useful for testing installed cable before termination or when a remote unit is unavailable. A built-in tone generator sends signals to selected pins or all conductors for cable tracing with a compatible tone probe (probe sold separately). The tester also supports auto-negotiation signal output for live network port identification and PoE detection.
The CG39002 is designed for commercial AV and IT environments where structured cabling verification is a routine part of system commissioning and post-installation certification. Results are displayed on a clear pin-to-pin diagram, showing pass/fail status for each conductor pair with fault type identification.
Key Features
- TDR Cable Length Measurement — Measures UTP and STP cable length without a remote unit using Time Domain Reflectometer technology in real time.
- Fault Detection and Location — Identifies and locates opens, shorts, miswirings, reversals, split pairs, and shield continuity faults.
- Pin-to-Pin Display — Results shown in pin-to-pin format for clear, actionable fault identification across all conductor pairs.
- Built-In Tone Generator — Sends tone signals to selected pins or all conductors for cable tracing with a compatible tone probe (probe not included).
- Auto-Negotiation Signal Output — Outputs auto-negotiation signals to identify live network ports and detect PoE presence.
- Compatible Cable Types — Tests RJ45, Cat5, Cat6, UTP, and STP cable types.
- Standalone Operation — Tests cable length without requiring a remote unit at the far end.
