Product Overview
The C2G CG29975 HDMI over IP Encoder delivers 4K 30Hz HDMI video across standard IP network infrastructure, making it a core component for scalable digital signage, video wall, and AV matrix switching deployments. Using H.264/H.265 compression, this commercial-grade HDMI over IP encoder streams audio and video over a LAN or the internet with just 40 Mbps of bandwidth per stream. It is compatible with the C2G HDMI over IP Decoder (CG29976) and supports configurations ranging from point-to-point extension to matrix switching across more than 600 endpoints. PoE (IEEE 802.3af) powering eliminates the need for local power supplies at the encoder location.
Product Description

The CG29975 encodes an HDMI 1.4 input signal at resolutions up to 4K (3840x2160) at 30Hz and transmits the compressed stream over a standard Gigabit Ethernet switch. Integrators can build point-to-point extensions, multi-display video walls, or fully scalable AV matrix systems using this encoder paired with C2G IP decoders — all managed through IP-based control without proprietary signal routing hardware.

The encoder supports Multicast, RTSP, RTMP (H.264), HLS, FLV, and TS protocols, allowing integration with third-party streaming systems and standard media players in addition to C2G decoder endpoints. A 3.5mm stereo audio input supports audio embedding, while a directional IR input and RS232 DB9 serial port allow control signal pass-through for end device management. Firmware updates are handled via Mini USB. In low-latency mode with H.265, the CG29975 achieves approximately 200ms end-to-end latency — acceptable for non-interactive digital signage and corporate display applications. Note: In electrically noisy environments, shielded STP cabling is required.
Key Features
- 4K 30Hz HDMI Input — Accepts HDMI 1.4 sources at resolutions up to 4K (3840x2160) at 30Hz with HDCP 1.4 support.
- H.264/H.265 Compression — Dual-codec support enables compatibility with C2G decoders and third-party H.264/H.265 playback devices over LAN or internet.
- Scalable IP Matrix Switching — Supports video wall, digital signage, point-to-point, and multi-view configurations; scales to 600+ endpoints via standard network infrastructure.
- PoE Powered (IEEE 802.3af) — Powered by a PoE-capable Ethernet switch; no local power supply required, simplifying cable management at the encoder end.
- Multi-Protocol Streaming — Outputs Multicast, RTSP, RTMP, HLS, FLV, and TS streams for integration with AV-over-IP networks and third-party media systems.
- 200ms Low-Latency Mode — H.265 low-latency mode delivers approximately 200ms end-to-end delay, suitable for digital signage and corporate display applications.
- Stereo Audio Embedding — 3.5mm stereo audio input allows audio from an external source to be embedded into the IP stream alongside the HDMI video.
- IR and RS232 Control Pass-Through — Directional IR and RS232 DB9 ports support remote control signal routing to end devices via the IP network.
- Compact Form Factor — 4.4 x 4.4 x 1.0 inch enclosure fits in AV racks, above-ceiling spaces, or behind displays for clean commercial installations.
Typical Applications

Frequently Asked Questions
- What decoder is compatible with the CG29975 encoder?
The CG29975 is designed to work with the C2G CG29976 HDMI over IP Decoder, available at creationnetworks.net. It can also stream to any H.264/H.265-compatible decoder device that supports RTSP, Multicast, HLS, FLV, or TS protocols.
- Does the CG29975 require a dedicated network or will it work on an existing LAN?
It works on an existing Gigabit LAN. Maximum network bandwidth per stream is 40 Mbps. For large-scale deployments with many simultaneous streams, a managed switch with IGMP snooping is recommended to control multicast traffic. In electrically noisy environments, shielded STP cabling is required.
- Can this encoder be used for live internet streaming?
Yes. The CG29975 supports RTMP (H.264) streaming, which is compatible with internet-based streaming platforms. It also supports RTSP and HLS for web-based playback.
- What is the maximum supported resolution and frame rate?
The encoder accepts HDMI input at up to 4K (3840x2160) at 30Hz. It does not support 4K 60Hz input — for 4K 60Hz decoding, use the C2G CG29976 decoder paired with a 4K 60Hz-capable encoder.
- How is the CG29975 powered?
The encoder is powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet) from a PoE PSE Ethernet switch (IEEE 802.3af). No external power adapter is included or required. Ensure your switch provides PoE on the port connected to this device.
- What audio inputs does the encoder support?
The CG29975 includes a 3.5mm stereo audio input for external audio embedding into the IP stream, plus it passes 2-channel audio embedded in the HDMI source signal.
- What warranty does C2G provide on the CG29975?
C2G provides a standard commercial product warranty. Contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net for warranty claims, RMA processing, and technical support.
