Product Overview
The BSS Telephone Hybrid Card is a PSTN interface card designed to populate the I/O card slots on Soundweb London DSP chassis, enabling direct connection to standard analog (POTS/PSTN/Analog PBX) telephone lines for conferencing applications. It provides integrated telephone hybrid functionality alongside two additional balanced mic/line inputs with phantom power, making it the standard solution for conference room DSP telephone integration. The card is compatible with BLU-800, BLU-805, BLU-806, BLU-320, BLU-325, BLU-326, BLU-160, and BLU-120 Soundweb London devices.
Product Description
The BSS Telephone Hybrid Card slots directly into any of the four I/O card bays on compatible Soundweb London processors, adding PSTN telephone hybrid capability to a DSP system without external interface hardware. This is the standard method for connecting an analog telephone line to a Soundweb London-based conference system, allowing the DSP to manage near-side and far-side audio paths, apply acoustic echo cancellation (AEC), and process dial-tone detection and hybrid balancing entirely within the processor. In addition to the telephone hybrid interface, the card provides two balanced mic/line analog inputs with per-channel selectable 48V phantom power and software-controlled analog gain adjustable in 6dB steps from 0dB to 48dB. These additional inputs are particularly useful for integrating gooseneck microphones, boundary mics, or other conferencing audio sources into the same card slot, maximizing the I/O density of the chassis. All configuration is performed through HiQnet London Architect software. The card is compatible with BLU-800, BLU-805, BLU-806, BLU-320, BLU-325, BLU-326, BLU-160, and BLU-120 Soundweb London devices. For installations requiring a VoIP or digital phone interface rather than PSTN, the BSS BLU-HIF headset interface provides a complementary option.
Key Features
- PSTN Telephone Hybrid — Enables direct connection to standard analog POTS/PSTN/Analog PBX telephone lines without external hybrid hardware.
- 2 Additional Mic/Line Inputs — Two balanced/unbalanced analog inputs on Combicon connectors expand the I/O of the host chassis.
- Per-Channel Phantom Power — 48V phantom power independently selectable per input channel supports condenser microphones.
- Software-Controlled Gain — Analog gain adjustable in 6dB steps from 0dB to 48dB via HiQnet London Architect.
- Card Slot Installation — Occupies one of four available I/O card slots on compatible Soundweb London chassis — no external wiring box required.
- Wide Chassis Compatibility — Works in BLU-800, BLU-805, BLU-806, BLU-320, BLU-325, BLU-326, BLU-160, and BLU-120 processors.
- HiQnet London Architect Configuration — Full software control of hybrid parameters, gain staging, and AEC routing within the DSP.
- Balanced/Unbalanced Input Compatibility — Combicon connectors accept both balanced and unbalanced mic/line signals.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of telephone line does the Telephone Hybrid Card support?
A: The card supports standard POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service), also known as PSTN or Analog PBX lines. It is not designed for direct connection to digital telephone systems or VoIP lines without appropriate analog conversion. For VoIP/digital phone headset integration, see the BSS BLU-HIF.
Q: Which Soundweb London chassis accept the Telephone Hybrid Card?
A: The card is compatible with BLU-800, BLU-805, BLU-806, BLU-320, BLU-325, BLU-326, BLU-160, and BLU-120 Soundweb London devices. It occupies one of the four available I/O card slots.
Q: How many Telephone Hybrid Cards can be installed in a single chassis?
A: Up to four cards can populate the I/O slots of a compatible chassis, though typical installations use one or two. The remaining slots can be populated with analog input, analog output, or digital I/O cards as needed.
Q: Does the card include AEC for telephone conferencing?
A: The card provides the telephone hybrid interface; AEC (Acoustic Echo Cancellation) processing is handled within the Soundweb London DSP and is configured through HiQnet London Architect. The near-side audio path should be routed through an AEC input object in the DSP design.
Q: Can the two mic/line inputs be used independently of the telephone hybrid?
A: Yes. The two analog inputs on the Telephone Hybrid Card are independent of the telephone hybrid circuit and can be used for any mic or line-level source, including condenser microphones when phantom power is enabled.
Q: Is the Telephone Hybrid Card available from Creation Networks?
A: Yes. The BSS BLU Telephone Hybrid Card (SKU: BSSBLUHYBRIDIN-M) is available at creationnetworks.net. Contact us for system design assistance or project pricing.
