Product Overview
The Bose DesignMax DM2C-LP is a commercial-grade, low-profile in-ceiling loudspeaker designed for background music and paging in tight ceiling cavities. Its 20-watt rating, 85 Hz–19 kHz frequency range, and plenum-rated backcan make it a practical choice for retail stores, corporate lobbies, conference rooms, and hospitality venues. The DM2C-LP supports both 70V and 100V distributed audio systems as well as low-impedance (16 ohm) operation, giving integrators flexibility across a wide range of commercial sound installations. Sold as a pair in white (RAL 9003) with magnetically attached grilles and removable logos.
Product Description
Designed for spaces where ceiling depth is limited, the DM2C-LP features a low-profile backcan that measures just 99 mm (3.9 inches) deep — allowing installation in ceilings where standard in-ceiling speakers will not fit. The 2.25-inch full-range driver delivers clear, intelligible audio at listening levels typical of background music and light foreground applications without requiring external DSP or EQ out of the box.
Installation is handled through Bose's patented QuickHold spring-loaded mounting arms, which secure the speaker into the ceiling cutout without tools after initial positioning. Front-access wiring via a 6-pin Euroblock connector simplifies both initial installation and future troubleshooting. An adjustable tile bridge is included for drop-ceiling grid applications, and optional rough-in kits are available for new construction projects.
The DM2C-LP is UL-1480A listed and rated for plenum-space installation under UL2043, NFPA70, and NFPA90-A — a compliance requirement in many commercial and institutional buildings. The grille is paintable steel with a powder-coated finish, and the Bose logo is rotatable and removable to maintain a clean aesthetic. For installations using Bose Professional DSPs and amplifiers, the DM2C-LP supports Bose loudspeaker EQ voicing and SmartBass processing to extend low-frequency performance at any playback level.
The 16-ohm nominal impedance allows four DM2C-LP units to be run on a single low-impedance amplifier channel, reducing amplifier channel counts in large-zone installations. Transformer taps on the 70V line include 1.2, 2.3, 4.5, and 9 W positions; the 100V line offers 2.3, 4.5, and 9 W taps, plus bypass on both. Wire entry knockouts accommodate 9.5 mm (3/8 in) conduit from the top or side.
