Product Overview
The Bose PowerShare PS404D is a 4-channel, rack-mount adaptable power amplifier designed for installed commercial audio systems requiring flexible zone distribution. Using patented PowerShare technology, the PS404D delivers a shared 400 watts across all outputs — each channel capable of delivering full power independently — making it a practical choice for conference rooms, commercial meeting spaces, and multi-zone installed sound. With onboard Dante audio networking and ControlSpace Designer software integration, the PS404D fits naturally into networked AV systems where distributed amplification and remote configuration are required. It supports both low-impedance (4–8 Ω) and high-impedance (70V/100V) loads without bridging or jumpers, covering a wide range of installed loudspeaker topologies.
Product Description
The PS404D occupies 1U in a standard equipment rack and draws from technology proven in Bose Professional's PowerMatch amplifier line. Its Dual Feedback Loop system continuously monitors both current and voltage at each output, improving linearity and protecting connected loudspeakers from thermal or overload conditions. Four balanced analog inputs accept signal via a 12-pin Euroblock connector, while the Dante interface supports four additional digital input channels over standard Ethernet — allowing amplifiers to be placed near loudspeaker loads rather than at the rack head-end.
Onboard DSP functions include a 9-band parametric EQ per channel, matrix mixing, crossover, Vpeak/Vrms limiters, delay, bandpass, and mute/polarity inversion — all configurable through ControlSpace Designer software over the network. Output attenuators on the rear panel provide local level control per channel. The auto-standby mode reduces power consumption when signal is absent, which matters in commercial installations where amplifiers run continuously across extended operating hours.
The PS404D's load-independent outputs mean a single channel can drive a 4 Ω, 8 Ω, 70V, or 100V load without hardware reconfiguration — a meaningful advantage when system designs change during construction or when integrators need to adapt to field conditions. This flexibility is particularly useful in distributed audio installations across conference centers, government spaces, and multi-purpose rooms where loudspeaker configurations vary by zone.
Available from Creation Networks, the PS404D (SKU: 813375-1310) is the 120V US version, UL listed and FCC Part 15B Class A compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the PS404D require ControlSpace Designer software for basic operation?
- No. The amplifier operates without software configuration using factory defaults and rear-panel output attenuators. ControlSpace Designer is required for DSP parameter setup, Dante routing, and integration into larger networked AV systems.
- Can I mix low-impedance and high-impedance loads on different channels simultaneously?
- Yes. Each output channel is independently configurable for 4 Ω, 8 Ω, 70V, or 100V loads. There is no need for jumpers or bridging. Configuration is handled in ControlSpace Designer software.
- How does PowerShare technology affect zone design?
- Rather than allocating fixed power per channel, the PS404D shares its 400 W pool across all active channels. If one zone is inactive, the remaining zones can draw more power. This allows system designers to size zones independently rather than planning for worst-case simultaneous demand across all four channels.
- Is the PS404D compatible with third-party control systems such as Crestron or AMX?
- Yes. The PS404D can be controlled via the ControlSpace network protocol, which supports integration with Crestron, AMX, and other third-party control systems through ControlSpace Designer's external control configuration.
- What Dante software version is required?
- The PS404D uses standard Dante networking managed through Dante Controller software (by Audinate). No special version is required beyond what is current for the installed Dante network.
- What is the warranty on the PS404D?
- Bose Professional provides a standard limited warranty. For current warranty terms applicable to commercial installed products, contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net.
- Does the PS404D support redundant Dante network connections?
- Yes. Two RJ-45 network ports support both switched and isolated (primary/secondary redundant) Dante network modes, selectable from the rear panel.
