Product Overview
The Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini IP Video 12G is a 12G-SDI to Ethernet encoder/decoder that uses TICO visually lossless compression to send high-quality video over an IP network. It supports up to 1080p60 over standard Gigabit Ethernet, with up to 12G-SDI (DCI/UHD 4K) available via an optional 10G optical Ethernet module. A minimum of two units is required — one to encode and one to decode — and many units can share the same network.
Product Description
The Teranex Mini IP Video 12G converts SDI to IP and back, letting you distribute video across an Ethernet network using TICO encoding. Each unit has a single 12G-SDI input, two independent 12G-SDI outputs, a Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45) connector, and an SFP slot for an optional 10G optical module. Over standard Gigabit Ethernet it carries signals up to 1080p60; for signals up to 12G-SDI (4K DCI or UHD), the optional 10G fiber Ethernet LC connector is required. Because the system is point-to-point over IP, a minimum of two units is needed — one encoding and one decoding — and Blackmagic Videohub software (Mac or Windows) can turn a computer into a router server that manages connections between many units to build a large custom-sized router on your network. Embedded audio is carried with the video (there are no separate audio connectors). Setup is via built-in DIP switches, Blackmagic Teranex setup software, or an optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel with LCD. A built-in 90–240V supply means you only need a standard IEC cable (sold separately) if not using PoE+, and up to three units fit in an optional 1U 19" rack tray.
Key Features

Frequently Asked Questions
How many units do I need?
At least two — one to encode the SDI signal onto the network and one to decode it at the other end. Many units can share the same network.
What resolution can it carry?
Up to 1080p60 over standard Gigabit Ethernet; up to 12G-SDI (4K DCI or UHD) with the optional 10G optical Ethernet module.
How is it managed?
Via Blackmagic Videohub software on Mac or Windows, which can manage connections between multiple units as a network router.
How is it powered?
Via a built-in 90–240V supply (standard IEC cable, sold separately) or PoE+ over Ethernet.
