Product Overview

The Blackmagic Design Streaming Decoder 4K converts H.264 or H.265 streams back into SDI and HDMI video at up to DCI 4K60. It's the receiving end for streams from the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder or from Blackmagic cameras with built-in streaming, enabling point-to-point video between remote locations. A 12G-SDI reference input carries SDI tally, camera control, and talkback back to the encoder, and USB-C phone tethering provides automatic failover if the internet drops.

Product Description

This compact 1U decoder turns an incoming H.264/H.265 SRT or RTMP stream into SDI and HDMI output for monitors, switchers, and recorders, decoding up to 4096×2160 at 60p. Many Blackmagic cameras — including the Studio Camera Pro, PYXIS, URSA Cine, and URSA Broadcast G2 — can stream directly, so the decoder enables point-to-point links without extra hardware; for cameras without built-in streaming, the Streaming Encoder is used at the source. A 12G-SDI reference input sends SDI tally, camera control, and talkback back to the encoder. Front and rear USB-C ports tether 4G/5G phones, and if the internet connection fails the unit automatically switches to the phone's data connection, with Ethernet or phone prioritized as needed. At only 5.5" wide it sits up to three across in 1U of rack space, and it ships with the Blackmagic Streaming Utility software.
