Product Overview

The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G-SDI is a bi-directional SDI-to-optical-fiber converter that extends SDI connections up to 10 miles over low-cost optical fiber cable. It converts SDI to fiber and fiber to SDI simultaneously in both directions, making it well suited to placing cameras far from switchers, routers, and decks at live events, sporting venues, and large performance spaces. Note that a separate SFP optical module is required (sold separately).

Product Description

The Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G-SDI extends SDI over long distances by converting between SDI and optical fiber in both directions at the same time, so it can carry different video formats in each direction simultaneously. Depending on the format, signals can travel up to 10 miles from the source. The 12G-SDI connections are multi-rate, automatically detecting the signal and switching speeds for compatibility with SD, HD, and Ultra HD up to 2160p60, including Level A and B devices (DCI 4K up to 25p). It supports 16 channels of embedded audio, with diagrammed function switches for setup and updates via Converter Utility software. The unit uses a compact metal housing with a locking universal power supply, and an SFP slot accepts the required optical module (sold separately).
