The Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Extreme 4K HDR is a touchscreen 4K HDR broadcast recorder and player that records H.265 and ProRes files in all SD, HD, and Ultra HD standards up to 2160p60. It combines a large touch LCD, built-in scopes, HDR support, 3D LUTs, dual CFast slots, and 12G-SDI, HDMI, and legacy analog connections, making this 12G-SDI master recorder suited to broadcast, live production, and archival work. (An 8K HDR model is available separately for native 8K.)

HyperDeck Extreme 4K HDR records and plays space-saving H.265 plus ProRes (422 HQ/422/422 LT, and ProRes 4444 for fill-and-key playback) for wide compatibility with DaVinci Resolve, Media Composer, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro. A bright wide-gamut touchscreen offers play/stop/record, a mini timeline, image-swipe jog, and a heads-up display of timecode, format, media status, and audio meters, with selectable waveform, vectorscope, RGB/YUV parade, and histogram scopes that switch to HDR scopes in HDR formats. It supports the latest HDR standards (PQ/HLG per ST2084), automatically detects HDR on SDI/HDMI inputs, and the LCD covers 100% of DCI-P3 plus Rec. 2020/709. Connections include multi-rate 12G-SDI (one input, two outputs with fill-and-key on RGBA files), HDMI 2.0 in/out, a down-converted 3G-SDI monitor output with overlays, component input, four XLR analog audio in/out and HiFi RCA for archiving from legacy decks, USB-C for external flash-disk recording, and 10G Ethernet for fast FTP uploads. Two CFast card slots allow continuous recording with swap-during-record, an optional user-installable PCIe flash cache eliminates dropped frames, and AC plus 12V XLR DC power suit studio or location use. Adding the optional HyperDeck Extreme Control brings traditional RS-422 broadcast deck controls (up to 8 decks) for archiving and editing across formats. The interface is localized for 11 languages.
