The Blackmagic Design ATEM Studio Converter is the studio-end unit that receives video over optical fiber from ATEM Camera Converters and converts it to SDI for your switcher. Paired with ATEM Camera Converters, it extends camera-to-switcher runs up to 28 miles over standard single-mode fiber — far beyond SDI's typical few-hundred-foot copper limit. In a 1 RU rackmount chassis, it provides four bidirectional fiber/SDI converters plus built-in talkback and tally for multi-camera live production.
Product Description
The ATEM Studio Converter (Studio Converter 2) sits between your switcher and up to four ATEM Camera Converter units, receiving their signals over single-mode optical fiber with LC connectors and converting them to SDI using 10-bit processing. It functions as four independent, simultaneous bidirectional SD/HD-SDI-to-optical converters, and supports switchable SD and HD signals. Built-in talkback — a microphone input, integrated speaker, and headphone jack — lets you communicate with camera operators over the fiber link using SDI audio channels 15 and 16; operators can be selected individually, latched open, or muted from the front panel. The unit passes SDI tally information back to the cameras along with the program feed from the switcher, and multiple Studio Converters can be cascaded when more than four cameras are needed. The 1 RU chassis has built-in rackmount ears for easy integration into studio configurations or production cases, with a USB connection for setup, firmware, and the Converter Utility software.
