The ATEM Mini Extreme switches, adds effects, color grades, and keys in real time from the control surface or the free software control panel. Eight independent HDMI inputs support popular HD formats to 1080p60, and per-input frame-rate/format converters allow non-matching pro and consumer sources to be mixed cleanly. It supports up to nine layers with four upstream and two downstream keyers (up to four chroma and four linear keyers), two DVEs with borders and drop shadow, five pattern generators, and two color generators. For monitoring, the HDMI output offers up to a 16-screen multiview showing program, preview, all eight inputs, SuperSource, clean feed, media player, and stream/record status. As a multicamera HDMI streaming switcher, it streams over Ethernet via RTMP or presents the program as a USB webcam source; for location work it can tether to a 4G/5G phone over USB as a primary or backup connection, and powers the phone while connected. CCU functions control Blackmagic Studio and URSA cameras, and the switcher can control Pocket Cinema Camera 4K/6K settings — iris, gain, focus, detail, zoom, and color — over HDMI.
