The Blackmagic Design ATEM Microphone Converter expands audio input for ATEM Television Studio switchers by converting four analog XLR inputs to MADI. With two BNC MADI I/O ports it plugs straight into the ATEM Television Studio MADI port with no complex setup, and units can be daisy-chained for more sources. The four XLR/quarter-inch combo inputs are mic/line selectable with 48V phantom power.

The ATEM Microphone Converter uses 32-bit float digital preamps with eight ADCs per input to capture clip-free 24-bit / 48 kHz audio with a very low noise floor, wide dynamic range, and low distortion. Rather than an analog preamp, microphone levels are set by a stable digital gain stage processed in full 32-bit float, so you can compensate for different microphone brands with high precision and a clean, noise-free result before finessing levels on the ATEM audio mixer.

Each input combines eight high-dynamic-range ADCs that function as one ultra-high-dynamic-range converter, delivering 131 dBA of dynamic range per channel at just 0.002% distortion, with a fixed -129 dBV noise floor regardless of digital gain. The multi-ADC design closely matches all four channels for uniform performance across inputs and between units. The MADI output embeds the four analog inputs as MADI channels 1–4, and the MADI input loops additional converters to stack more channels on a single link. An HDMI monitoring output shows four scrolling 60-second waveforms, level meters, custom channel labels, and mic/line and phantom-power status, while USB and Ethernet allow remote admin and updates via ATEM Software Control.
