Product Overview

The Biamp Voltera D 1200.4M is a four-channel networked amplified loudspeaker controller that pairs 1200 W of Class D amplification with a fully programmable onboard DSP in a single rack unit. It is built for commercial AV integrators who need moderate-power amplification, loudspeaker processing, and networked audio from one device. As a rack-mount DSP amplifier, the Voltera D 1200.4M drives low-impedance, 70V, or 100V loudspeakers and supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 for flexible deployment on a converged AV network. Onboard processing lets it replace an external DSP in many smaller commercial audio systems.

Product Description

The Voltera D 1200.4M integrates amplification, loudspeaker management, and networked audio so one chassis handles work that once required separate amplifier and DSP hardware. Its onboard DSP offers headroom equivalent to a TesiraFORTÉ, which is valuable in smaller venues where replacing an external DSP has a large proportional impact on total system cost. Each of the four channels drives 2.7, 4, 8, or 16 ohm loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines, applied from the loudspeaker profile chosen during commissioning. Power sharing allows up to 100% of total power through any single channel, reaching 900 W at 100V, matching output to uneven loudspeaker loads. The amplifier is 100% software configurable through Biamp Tesira or VenueTune, and the ALAMOS profile library covers more than 200 Biamp models to speed setup. Distributed processing means system cost scales with power requirements rather than a central resource. The unit can be sustained through PoE+ so the processor stays online without a reboot during a mains power loss, and it supports failover-to-analog operation. Integrators can compare the higher-power Voltera D 2400.4M and the two-channel Voltera D 1200.2M, or view the full Biamp collection.

Key Features

  • 1200 W Across Four Channels — The amplifier delivers 1200 W total with all channels driven, supplying 300 W per channel for smaller commercial systems.
  • Onboard Programmable DSP — A fully programmable DSP with headroom equivalent to a TesiraFORTÉ handles loudspeaker processing without a separate processor.
  • Networked Audio Support — The unit supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 over two 1000Base-T ports in converged, split, or redundant network modes.
  • Power Sharing — Power sharing delivers up to 100% of total power through any single channel, reaching 900 W at 100V on one output.
  • Flexible Output Drive — Every channel drives 2.7, 4, 8, and 16 ohm low-impedance loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines.
  • PoE+ Processor Sustain — When port 1 is connected to a PoE+ switch on a UPS, the processor stays online through a mains power loss without rebooting.
  • ALAMOS Profile Library — Nearly 700 loudspeaker profiles covering more than 200 Biamp models speed commissioning in Tesira or VenueTune.
  • Single Rack Unit — The 1 RU chassis provides high channel density where rack space is limited.

Typical Applications

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Voltera D 1200.4M require a separate DSP?
No. It includes a fully programmable onboard DSP with headroom equivalent to a TesiraFORTÉ, so in many designs it replaces an external processor for loudspeaker management.

Is this model a good fit for smaller rooms?
Yes. At 1200 W across four channels it is sized for smaller venues, where its ability to replace an external DSP has a large proportional impact on total system cost.

Which loudspeakers can it drive?
Each channel drives 2.7, 4, 8, and 16 ohm low-impedance loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines, set through the loudspeaker profile chosen during configuration.

What audio networks does it support?
It supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 over two 1000Base-T ports and can run in converged, split, or redundant network modes.

Will it stay online during a power outage?
If port 1 is connected to a PoE+ switch backed by a UPS, the processor is sustained through a mains power loss without rebooting, and the unit supports failover-to-analog operation.

How much rack space does it need?
The chassis occupies a single rack unit (1 RU) and ships with a rear support kit for 19-inch rack mounting.

What warranty and compliance does it carry?
The Voltera D M series carries a 5-year warranty and is compliant with the US Trade Agreement Act (TAA).
