Product Overview
The Barco SFP Input card (R9802253) is a small form-factor pluggable input board that brings 12G-SDI signal over fiber into Barco Pulse-based projectors. It receives a single high-bandwidth SDI feed across optical fiber, allowing the projector to be positioned far from the signal source without copper-length limitations. The card works in combination with the SFP Output card (R9004766) to form a complete point-to-point fiber link. It is engineered for the demanding signal-integrity requirements of large-venue projection.
Product Description
This input card installs into the Pulse electronics found across the Barco UDX, UDM, HDX-4K, XDL, Hodr and Njord projector families, extending their native input set with fiber-based 12G-SDI capture. As the product image shows, the board fits the standard Pulse card slot and accepts an SFP transceiver cage for optical termination. By transporting SDI over fiber rather than coax, integrators gain immunity to electromagnetic interference and the ability to span hundreds of meters between the playback or routing source and the projector.
The card is the receive half of a matched fiber pair; the transmit side is handled by the Barco SFP Output card (R9004766). Note that SFP transceivers and fiber cabling are ordered separately to match the specific optical run. For broader input expansion on the same platform, pair this card with the Pulse Quad Combo Input Mk II, and browse the full Barco collection for compatible Pulse modules and projector accessories.
Key Features
- 12G-SDI over fiber — Carries a single high-bandwidth SDI stream across optical fiber into the Pulse processing chain.
- SFP transceiver cage — Accepts a standard small form-factor pluggable optical module, ordered separately to suit the run.
- Matched fiber pairing — Operates with the SFP Output card (R9004766) to complete a point-to-point optical link.
- Pulse platform compatibility — Installs across UDX, UDM, HDX-4K, XDL, Hodr and Njord Pulse-based projectors.
- Long-distance transport — Fiber removes the copper distance ceiling and rejects electromagnetic interference on long cable runs.
- Field-installable card — Slots into the projector's modular Pulse input bay for in-the-field input expansion.
Typical Applications
- Rental and staging — Long fiber feeds from front-of-house routing to projectors hung at the rear of large venues.
- Fixed install — Permanent optical signal paths in auditoriums, houses of worship and large meeting spaces.
- Live events — High-bandwidth SDI distribution where coax distance limits would otherwise apply.
- Broadcast and production — SMPTE-standard SDI transport into projection for studio and screening environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this card include the SFP transceiver and fiber cable? No. The card provides the SFP cage; the optical transceiver module and fiber cabling are ordered separately to match your specific run length and connector type.
What does it pair with on the transmit side? It is the receive half of a matched fiber link and works in combination with the Barco SFP Output card, article number R9004766.
Which projectors accept this card? It installs in Barco Pulse-based projectors including the UDX, UDM, HDX-4K, XDL, Hodr and Njord families.
Why use fiber instead of coax for SDI? Fiber removes the distance limits of copper SDI and is immune to electromagnetic interference, making it suited to long runs in large venues.
