Barco UDM-4K22 21,000-lumen 4K UHD 3-chip DLP large venue laser projector

Product Overview

The Barco UDM-4K22 large venue projector is built for permanent installations and live events where 4K detail and extreme brightness are non-negotiable — auditoriums, houses of worship, broadcast sets, and large staging. This 21,000 lumen 3-chip DLP laser projector pairs 4K UHD resolution with a laser phosphor light source rated for 20,000 hours, eliminating lamp changes across its service life. At 48 kg it was the lightest 22K-class chassis on the market at launch, cutting rigging and freight cost on every deployment. Barco Pulse electronics and the Insights Management Suite make it a connected, remotely managed projector for fleets across multiple sites.

Product Description

The UDM-4K22 is a 4K UHD large venue projector that uses three 0.9″ DMD chips and a laser phosphor engine to deliver 22,000 ISO lumens with a color spectrum that exceeds the Rec. 709 space. Barco’s Single Step Processing handles warping, scaling, and 4K UHD processing in one pass, which keeps latency low and dark time shorter than comparable solutions — important for live camera feeds and edge-blended multi-projector arrays using ScenergiX. The modular, sealed-core design supports field serviceability and 360° orientation, so integrators can ceiling-mount, rig, or floor-stack without restriction. As a connected laser phosphor projector for permanent installation, it offers integrated 3G/WiFi/GSM and a cloud dashboard for remote brightness control, log access, and fleet monitoring. The unit ships as a body only — TLD+ lenses are selected separately to match throw distance. Constant Light Output holds brightness and color steady across the projector’s life, and integrated laser cooling guards against overheating in demanding rooms.

Key Features

  • 3-chip DLP laser engine — Three 0.9″ DMD chips with laser phosphor illumination produce 22,000 ISO lumens for large screens in high-ambient-light rooms.
  • 4K UHD resolution — 3,840 × 2,400 output with up to 5,120 × 3,200 internal processing keeps fine text and detail sharp at scale.
  • Pulse Single Step Processing — Warp, scale, and 4K processing run in a single step for low latency and reduced dark time.
  • FLEX² brightness and resolution locking — Tune and lock brightness or resolution per show for predictable, repeatable output.
  • 20,000-hour laser phosphor source — Lamp-free operation removes consumable cost, flicker, and scheduled lamp maintenance.
  • Lightest 22K-class chassis — 48 kg (105 lb) lowers rigging labor and shipping cost versus heavier large-venue projectors.
  • ScenergiX edge blending — Horizontal and vertical blending with embedded warp for seamless multi-projector arrays.
  • Insights Management Suite and integrated connectivity — Cloud dashboard, remote log access, and 3G/WiFi/GSM for fleet monitoring across sites.
  • 360° orientation and sealed DLP core — Mount in any orientation; the sealed optical path protects image quality in dusty venues.
  • Constant Light Output (CLO) — Maintains consistent brightness and color across the projector’s lifetime.

Typical Applications

  • Auditorium — High lumen output fills large screens in lecture halls and performing-arts spaces with ambient light.
  • House of worship — 4K detail and edge blending suit wide sanctuary screens and IMAG.
  • Broadcast studio — Low-latency Pulse processing supports live camera and virtual-set workflows.
  • All-hands room — Drives town-hall-scale displays where standard installation projectors fall short.
  • Government space — Suited to command, visualization, and briefing rooms needing rugged, managed projection.
  • Multi-purpose room — Flexible mounting and locking presets adapt to changing event configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the UDM-4K22 include a lens?

No. It ships as a body only. Select a Barco TLD+ lens by throw ratio (options span 0.37:1 ultra-short-throw through 7.5–11.5:1) to match your throw distance — the full TLD+ range is stocked on creationnetworks.net.

How does it integrate into an existing AV system?

Native inputs cover HDBaseT, HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2, HDR10), DisplayPort 1.2, and Quad 3G/12G SDI, with optional Quad DP 1.2 and Fiber SFP cards. Control is available over RS232, RJ-45/Ethernet, IR, DMX 512, and the integrated web server.

What are the installation requirements?

It supports 360° orientation for ceiling, truss, or floor-stack mounting. Plan for 200–240V at 13.5A for full brightness (120V operation caps output at roughly 70%), up to 2,200 W draw, and 6,890 BTU/h heat dissipation when sizing power and HVAC.

How is the projector fleet managed and serviced?

The Barco Insights Management Suite provides a cloud dashboard with remote log access and brightness control across multiple units. The modular, sealed-core design is built for field serviceability.

What warranty and support does it carry?
