Product Overview

The AVPro Edge 10G SDVoE 4K HDMI AV-over-IP PoE Transceiver is a dual-mode encoder/decoder unit for distributing uncompressed 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 HDMI video over a 10 Gigabit Ethernet network. It is part of the AVPro MXNet 10G ecosystem, enabling scalable, matrix-style AV distribution without a traditional hardware switcher. A single transceiver functions as either an encoder (source end) or decoder (display end), reducing SKU complexity and allowing integrators to configure systems with any number of sources and displays. PoE (Power over Ethernet) eliminates the need for local power at each endpoint, simplifying installation in ceiling mounts, above-tile spaces, and other locations without convenient AC access.

Product Description

SDVoE (Software Defined Video over Ethernet) is an industry standard for uncompressed AV-over-IP that delivers video at less than one frame of latency — a requirement for live event production, command and control applications, and real-time collaboration environments. The MXNet 10G Transceiver implements SDVoE fully, meaning it is compatible with any SDVoE-compliant controller for routing, switching, and multiview management. Network-based control allows the AV system to be managed from a central software interface, replacing the fixed button matrix of traditional hardware routers with a flexible, software-configurable topology.

Because each transceiver is PoE-powered, the 10G Ethernet switch serves double duty as both the network fabric and the power distribution layer. This is a meaningful installation advantage in large systems with dozens or hundreds of endpoints. The base transceiver covers HDMI 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 with embedded audio. For applications requiring USB extension or Dante audio, AVPro offers separate SKUs — this unit is the baseline 10G SDVoE transceiver without those add-ons.

Key Features

  • Encoder and Decoder in One SKU — a single unit functions as either a source-end encoder or display-end decoder, simplifying procurement and inventory.
  • Uncompressed 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 — full color depth 4K HDMI video transmitted without compression over 10G Ethernet.
  • SDVoE Standard Compliant — interoperable with SDVoE-certified controllers and management software for routing and switching.
  • Sub-Frame Latency — less than one frame of end-to-end latency for live AV, command and control, and broadcast applications.
  • PoE Powered — powered by the Ethernet switch via IEEE 802.3af/at PoE, eliminating local AC power requirements at each endpoint.
  • 10G Network Fabric — operates on 10 Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure for the bandwidth headroom required by uncompressed 4K.
  • Network-Based Control — AV routing managed through software, enabling flexible topology changes without hardware reconfiguration.
  • Scalable Architecture — supports 1:1, 1:N broadcast, and N:N matrix configurations within the MXNet 10G ecosystem.
  • HDMI Embedded Audio — all audio formats carried within the HDMI signal are transported over the IP link.
  • MXNet 10G Ecosystem — integrates with AVPro's MXNet management platform for centralized AV-over-IP system control.

Typical Applications

  • Corporate campus AV-over-IP distribution replacing traditional matrix switchers with network-based routing
  • Broadcast and production environments requiring uncompressed 4K with sub-frame latency
  • Command and control rooms with large display walls and multiple 4K source feeds
  • University campuses distributing 4K AV across buildings over existing 10G network infrastructure
  • Hospitality and entertainment venues with large-scale digital signage and display networks
  • House of worship production systems requiring flexible multi-display routing from a single source ecosystem

Frequently Asked Questions

Does one transceiver work as both encoder and decoder?
Yes. A single AC-MXNET-10G-TCVR unit can be configured as either an encoder (at the source) or a decoder (at the display) through the MXNet management software. This means you do not need separate encoder and decoder SKUs.
What switch is required?
A managed 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch with PoE is required. The switch must support IGMPv3 snooping and have sufficient PoE budget for the number of transceivers in the system. Consult Creation Networks for switch specification guidance.
Is this the same as the MXNet Evo II or other AVPro AV-over-IP products?
No. This is the base 10G SDVoE transceiver without USB extension or Dante audio. AVPro offers additional MXNet SKUs with those features. The base transceiver handles 4K HDMI with embedded audio only.
What is the maximum number of transceivers in a single system?
The MXNet 10G architecture scales based on the 10G switch infrastructure. There is no fixed unit cap — system size is determined by the number of switch ports and network bandwidth available.
Can this unit work in a 1:N broadcast mode?
Yes. The SDVoE protocol supports 1:N distribution where one encoder feeds multiple decoders simultaneously, which is useful for digital signage, scoreboards, or broadcast-style distribution.
Does it support HDCP?
Yes. The transceiver supports HDCP-compliant content protection. Confirm specific HDCP version support with AVPro Edge product documentation for your content source requirements.
