Product Overview
The Avid NEXIS | F5 NL Controller is the storage engine chassis and management head unit for the NEXIS F5 Near-Line storage system, sold without Media Packs. The F5 NL Controller provides the compute, networking, and management infrastructure of the F5 platform configured for Near-Line HDD Media Pack deployments—for facilities purchasing 160TB NL Media Packs separately. This bundle includes Avid ExpertPlus with Hardware Support, providing hardware replacement coverage and expert technical access.
Product Description
The Avid NEXIS | F5 NL Controller enables facilities to build high-capacity, cost-effective nearline storage by adding 160TB NL Media Packs of their choice. The NL Controller chassis accepts up to eight 160TB Near-Line Media Packs for a 1,280TB nearline configuration, or can run half-populated for staged expansion. Near-Line Media Packs use large-capacity HDDs optimized for sequential access and archive workloads at a lower cost per terabyte than standard F5 HDD packs.
The F5 NL Controller ships with two 40/50Gbps Ethernet QSFP28 interfaces (unpopulated), dual 220V redundant power supplies, five cooling modules, SSDs, and the Avid NEXIS | FS license. Rack-mount kit included. Avid NEXIS | SDA or SDA+ is required for operation and sold separately.
