The Avid NEXIS | F5 Controller is the storage engine chassis and management head unit for the NEXIS F5 shared storage system, sold without Media Packs. The F5 Controller provides the compute, networking, and management infrastructure of the F5 platform—including two 40/50Gbps QSFP28 Ethernet interfaces, dual 220V redundant power supplies, five cooling modules, SSDs, and the Avid NEXIS | FS license—for facilities purchasing Media Packs separately or expanding an existing F5 deployment. This bundle includes Avid Elite Support—Avid's highest service tier.
Product Description
The Avid NEXIS | F5 Controller is the chassis-and-controller component of the NEXIS F5 storage platform, enabling facilities to acquire the storage head unit independently and populate it with Media Packs of their choice. The Controller chassis accepts up to eight Media Packs (HDD or NL) for a fully populated configuration, and supports half-populated deployments with four Media Packs and in-chassis expansion.
The F5 Controller includes two 40/50Gbps Ethernet QSFP28 interfaces (unpopulated), dual 220V redundant power supplies, five cooling modules, SSDs for system metadata, and the Avid NEXIS | FS license. A rack-mount kit is included. The controller requires an Avid NEXIS | SDA or SDA+ System Director Appliance for operation, sold separately.
This option is suited for facilities purchasing Media Packs through separate procurement, upgrading from an older chassis, or standardizing on a controller-first deployment model.
