Product Overview
The AVer MD330UI is a medical-grade PTZ camera purpose-built for telemedicine, tele-ICU, and remote patient monitoring deployments where clinical accuracy and infection control matter as much as video quality. Certified to IEC 60601-1-2 electromagnetic compatibility standards, the MD330UI delivers 4K resolution with 30X optical zoom, a detachable handheld camera head, infrared illumination for night-view capability, and an embedded array microphone with AI noise reduction for clear audio in clinical environments. The white housing integrates visually with medical equipment and room finishes in patient care areas. HDMI, IP, and USB outputs support integration with clinical workstations, telemedicine carts, and hospital network infrastructure.
Product Description
The MD330UI is built around a 1/2.8" Exmor CMOS sensor with 8 megapixels effective resolution, delivering 4K/30fps output via IP and USB (UVC) and up to 1080p/60 via HDMI. The 30X optical zoom (f = 4.3mm–129mm, F1.6–F4.7) with 2X digital zoom provides a 72.9°–2.64° DFOV range, enabling detailed examination of wound sites, vital sign monitors, or patient positioning from the full room view down to close-up clinical detail. Minimum working distance is 0.01m at wide-end, allowing the detached handheld head to capture wound images and label text at extremely short working distances.
The detachable camera head is one of the MD330UI’s defining clinical features. By pulling the head from the PTZ unit, clinicians can manually reposition the camera to examine areas outside the fixed PTZ range — underneath patients, at bed level, or from specific lateral angles — and take one-button snapshots saved to the microSD card slot. The IR illumination module (specific to the MD330UI vs. the MD330U which uses LED fill light) enables night-view imaging without disturbing patients during low-light hours. Auto-focus speed is optimized for clinical use to quickly lock onto targets as the camera transitions between subjects or distances.
Audio is handled by an embedded array microphone with AI noise reduction and an integrated speakerphone, supporting clear telehealth consultations without external audio hardware. PTZ control is via VISCA over RS-232 or IP, with Pelco-D and Pelco-P also supported. The camera is ONVIF-compliant. The USB 3.0 interface presents the device as a UVC 1.1 and UAC 1.0 device, enabling plug-and-play connection to clinical workstations and telemedicine applications on Windows 7 or later. Up to 256 preset positions can be stored and recalled via RS-232 or IP. AVer PTZ Management software is included for networked camera management.
TAA and NDAA compliance make the MD330UI suitable for government healthcare facilities and VA hospitals where procurement regulations require domestic or allied-country manufacturing origin.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between the MD330U and MD330UI?
A: The MD330U uses an LED fill light for close-up and low-light imaging, while the MD330UI (this model) uses an infrared illumination module for night-view capability without visible light. The IR version is preferred for overnight patient monitoring environments where visible illumination would disturb patients. All other specifications are identical.
Q: What medical certifications does the MD330UI carry?
A: The MD330UI is certified to IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC standard for medical electrical equipment). It is also TAA and NDAA compliant for use in federal, VA, and DoD healthcare facilities with procurement restrictions.
Q: How does the detachable camera head work in practice?
A: The camera head separates from the PTZ base in approximately one second. Once detached, it operates as a handheld unit with a one-button snapshot function (images saved to the onboard microSD card) and auto-focus for close-range imaging. Minimum working distance is 1cm at wide-end, suitable for wound documentation and label reading. The head reconnects to the base to resume full PTZ operation.
Q: What video outputs are available and at what resolutions?
A: The MD330UI provides three simultaneous output paths. HDMI outputs up to 1080p/60. IP (RJ45) and USB 3.0 both support 4K/30fps. USB presents as UVC 1.1 for plug-and-play compatibility with Windows telemedicine workstations. Dual IP streams are supported simultaneously at up to 4K 30fps.
Q: Can the MD330UI be used with standard telemedicine software on a Windows PC?
A: Yes. The USB 3.0 connection presents the camera as a standard UVC 1.1 video device and UAC 1.0 audio device, compatible with Windows 7 or later. This enables plug-and-play use with telemedicine platforms, Epic, and other clinical applications that accept standard UVC camera inputs without driver installation.
Q: Is the MD330UI suitable for tele-ICU and overnight patient monitoring?
A: Yes. The infrared illumination module enables imaging in complete darkness without visible light, making the MD330UI appropriate for tele-ICU environments where overnight monitoring must not disturb patients. The embedded speakerphone and AI noise reduction microphone array support two-way audio for remote clinician communication.
Q: What control protocol integration is supported for hospital IT environments?
A: The MD330UI supports VISCA over RS-232 and IP, Pelco-D, Pelco-P, and CGI over IP. ONVIF compliance enables integration with VMS platforms and hospital network video infrastructure. AVer PTZ Management software provides no-cost centralized camera management for network-connected installations.
